MY FOREVER WITH YOU

CHAPTER-18

Life is nothing without a little chaos to make it interesting.

Throughout the years in my life if I have to say one thing that makes me weary is normalcy.

 As sympathetic as it sound, I have long back accepted nothing in my life could stay normal for longer time. So I wasn't surprised much, when almost five days of having a normal routine, everything came down on this day.

Merely an hour before, Chaitra mammi barged into my room to inform- Runvijay with his family was coming with his proposal for me. She obviously without discussing it with mom, especially me, decided on her own and ordered me to doll up in best way.

I never ever felt so infuriated with that woman. 

And to top it off all, coincidentally another proposal was requested for Leena on the same day. I didn't cared to know the details. With the way both mother and daughter were bouncing with creepy happiness it concluded, it must be from some wealthy family. It was their only priority as always.

"Meera, get ready beta*."

Pari mammi entered the room looking sickly dramatic, rushing around the room to select dress. I couldn't even take a breather for a second. She kept rambling about how happy everyone at family were that two of their daughters were going to start their new life, living happily in decent families.

The last statement made me feel disgusted, how could they even think that useless excuse of a man Runvijay would be good choice for any girl let alone be me. I glared at her when she forced me to get dressed in some purple frock suit, she seemed completely unaffected.

Just like everyone around were unaffected not caring for ruining my life.

I wanted to cry so badly but I was holding myself and waiting for mom. She was on her way from the hospital, though I don't know what would be her decision. I could only hope she won't force me into it under the pressure of her family. 

I couldn't even think of any other man in my life. Except Arjun. 

The thought of someone else made fear grasp my heart. I took long breaths to calm down.

I was holding my phone with nearly sixteen contacts but it seemed not even one person was available to my aid in this moment. Yuvraj Bhai couldn't as he was busy with his final practical today. Still, I left him many messages.  Ayesha was out of town with her family attending her cousin's reception. They won't be back for another day.

Everything about today seemed unfortunate. I didn't even realize mammi announced I was ready and was dragging me down.

Just near the hallway, I saw mamma rushing towards me. I never wanted so badly to hug her, she reached me grasping my shoulders glancing at mammi. In overly exaggerated way mammi recited about the decision taken by Thakuma and badi mammi by themselves. Mamma looked bewildered at her.

"Meera, you want to meet him." She asked in pure shock.

I was grateful finding her equally repulsed with the idea, I tightened my hold on her hands and frantically shook my head.

"What is it taking you so long? Oh! Madhurima it's good you have arrived just in time." Badi mammi interrupted turning to mamma.

Even if her face appeared normal, though the ways she is rushing everything since morning it drew suspicions. For the fact no one would question her, her word held finality in house. We never argued, I didn't expect this would bring one of the worst nightmares of my life.

My mind couldn't be in one moment as everything was going on roller coaster. She was talking to mamma in hushed tones. Only the last part I was able to catch.
