MEERA

'How do you avoid being center of attraction?'

Oh, should have thought before marrying in Rajvansh family.

Anyways, I presumed by going through series of events I'd be used to it one day. My parents in laws might be humble by nature but their status was like pot of honey left to attract the bees from everywhere.

The reception evening exactly proving a practical example. Elders of the family asked rather demanded to have an extravagant evening as our marriage was sort of close knitted.

My grandparents in law organized the grand guestlist of every name and fame of the country. I almost thought, maybe they cared to participate in our happiness. Sadly, the celebration was only because they were being questioned by the peers doubting their acceptance for Arjun.

He was their eldest grandchild give and take, they had an image to maintain. So the entire chaos was only for headlines, to maintain their stocks valuable in market. It was long week of arrangements, serious discussions-it was not easy to convince dad as Arjun was not even slightest bothered with anything. Leaving the decision completely to mom and dad.

Dad finally agreed under one condition that whatever the end expenditure would come down to, everyone have to equally donate the amount in their charity organizations.

I was mesmerized with Dad's generosity and intellect. Vivan ended up laughing at their shocked expressions, I mean it was hefty amount there.

Once they agreed albeit reluctantly it was announced throughout the tabloids.

Mentally, I prepared myself for my reception night for two things.

One: I have to plaster a smile and bear the constant flash of lights throughout the evening while having a decent conversation with unfamiliar crowd, as we meet and greet.

It was going on well for couple of hours as it was interesting if I set aside my anxiety, to learn About people and their importance to mom and dad. Of course not all of them were welcoming, with fake smile I could clearly understand their eyes or whispers asking: "What did the Rajvansh see in this average family girl? Or it'd be only matter of time before I'd bring down their name with my low class mannerism."

My in laws and especially Arjun didn't let me stay for more than few seconds with such narrow minded people. Still they couldn't stop the words falling on my ears. It was difficult but I shoved back my self-doubts from consuming me.

Then there were genuine people congratulating and praising us as a pair- here the problem was to keep up with the conversation without stuttering much and my facial expressions giving out any discomfort. Maybe someday I will get used.

Another highlight was to have playful banter with B-5 group or the endless weird photo shoot session we had, much to Arjun's annoyance.

Arjun had least patience while picturing a pose unless it was romantic. Yeah, he'd not miss the chance to tease me with his touches and mine responsive blushing would reverberate awes or hoots. My family was around with Ayesha's sending me their encouraging smiles whenever they caught my wandering gazes.

Mom would fuss for every hour or so asking us for water or snacks. 'How could she manage the whole crowd of guests and still find time to attend us was beyond me.' I surely have lot of learning to do from my mother in law.
