first glimpse
"must be a touron"
PETER WELSH USED to be a loving father. he used to care about his two children, but now, he has given up. he has given up on his kids and his wife's disappearance.
"what do 'ya kids think?" peter raised his arms out to the side with the biggest smile he has had in a long time. he turned around to show a white boat with 'flo daddy' written on the side. braeden and dan looked at each other, the girl with a face of disgust and the boy with another one of his looks. they looked back at their dad who was keeping his attention on his new purchase.
"uh, yeah dad, it's nice" dan stepped down from the porch to get a closer look at the boat.
"nice? it's a beauty!" peter exaggirated as he looked at his son, then looked towards braeden. "what do 'ya think?"
"it's cool" braeden nodded her head as she also walked down; peter's eyes widened at her answer.
"what do 'ya mean? it's beautiful" he gave a disgusted face at his daughter then walked to the boat, next to dan.
braeden stood opposite the two of them with the question stuck in her head from the moment she saw the boat. "uh, where did you get it?"
dan looked at braeden with wide eyes. "what are you doing?" he mouthed to her. the girl just shrugged at his tenseness.
"why do you need to know?" peter smacked his hand on the side of the boat. surprisingly, he didn't snap as bad as braeen thought he would.
"it's just kinda weird how you suddenly have a boat, that's all"
"well, if you must know, i won it in a game" peter answered.
the siblings were not surprized at the least of their father's answer. it was either he won it in a game, like he did, or he stole it from someone.
dan and braeden both nodded at his answer, knowing if they said something even a little bit off, peter would get angry at the both of them and the both of them would be obligated to face the consequences.

even though peter gambled to get the boat, braeden wouldn't mind having a ride on it. she's always loved marine life and the sea, so going on a boat ride to watch the waves ride, always calms her. she remembers dan telling her about this river in obx called 'the marsh', it's a well known river and it supposedly has a nice view out in the sea. so that's where braeden is heading. braeden snatched the keys to the boat from her dad and sailed the boat into the water. after a long time of finding, she finally reached her destination of the marsh.
