"Zayn, mate, I don't know. She's such a great girl, but this band is so important to me and I'm dragging her into all the shit that comes with it," Harry confessed.
"Haz, she's a strong girl. I've spent more time with her than you have and I know her. She can take it. You've got the career of a lifetime. You can't just throw it away on a girl you've only known for one year," Zayn argues, getting up and throwing his cup away.
"I'm not saying I would quit One Direction, I'm just saying that I would have to leave her. She seems like she's really letting the hate get to her, and we all know how that turned out for El," Harry grumbles, pushing away memories of Eleanor.
"She's like, my best friend, Harry. I know what she can take and what she can't take. If it seems like too much for her, I'll let you know. In the meantime, think about how great you've got it. She's perfect, you've got the perfect career, the only thing wrong is that frog tattoo on your earlobe. You really need to get that removed," he joked, pointing at Harry from behind the tiny counter in the tour bus.
"No way, man. This has meaning," Harry rebutted, pulling on his left ear.
"Yeah, okay," Zayn rolled his eyes and chugged the rest of his water. "Let's do a soundcheck."
Harry hopped up, following Zayn out of the door and to the stage. They went through the motions of soundcheck, a few jokes and dancing here and there, then warmed up until show time.
They all gave two hundred percent, as always, yet Harry was a bit distracted. Connor had bought her very first ticket to this tour and was sitting somewhere very close. He was looking everywhere for her, but he never did find her.
After the show, as soon as he was taken below the stage, he saw her running toward him. He crawled through all the columns holding the stage up, struggling to get to her. A smile grew over her entire face and she started to run through the bars with excitement laced in her veins. He grabbed each one to push himself harder toward her.
They collided, arms flying around each other. She jumped up and he carried her out of the metal jungle before spinning her around and letting his happy tears fall. He pushed his lips onto hers and moved them forcefully with hers. All four months of not seeing each other was pushed into their lips as they kissed heavily with everyone watching. Cameras started to flash and they soon realized the whole team had seen it all. She gushed as they broke apart.
"Hi," he mumbled, flickering his eyes across her face. She looked just the same, except even more gorgeous.
"Hey," she breathed.
He escorted her through everyone, making pit stops along the way. She visited Lou, hugged Zayn, and let Liam make a joke about them.
In that moment, the moment she laid down on his chest on the tiny couch, he realized how good he had it. He had the most amazing woman in the entire world laying on his heart. He had the most dedicated and loving fans in the entire world screaming his name. He had the four best friends he could ever ask for taking every step of this trip with him. He was singing, doing exactly what he wanted most.
He rubbed her back and kissed her hair as they lightly fell asleep before they had to get up and start all over the next day.
I love you guys. This is for Zayn. He'll always be part of One Direction. I just hope he's happy this way. We are all in this together, we have got to support each other and cry together. It won't go away for awhile, and that's perfectly fine. Just know that we still have to support each one of the boys through everything they do and never stop loving them. This isn't the last of One Direction. xx
