"You have a broken mirror too?" He looks at me in shock.
"Yeah."
"You're just like me?" He says looking straight into my eyes, his eyes sparkling.
"Yes, I am." I glance back to his, a cold icy blue.
Trapped in a world where you want to be someone...
Three years passed since I experienced my first love.
Kim Namjoon.
Tomorrow was my eighteenth birthday, where I will become an adult. A woman.
I walk from school with Namjoon and Imani. Imani's hair was open with silver streaks and Namjoon's hair was dyed a silver parted in his face.
Ever since Namjoon and Imani got together they dye their month every couple of months. It was Imani's idea since she said it was "Couple goals!"
It seemed slightly cringe when I first heard it but I feel like it grew on me.
I enjoyed watching their hair turn vibrant colors every couple of months. Anticipating which color would be next. I would jokingly say to them, "You guys are going to get bald together" as Imani would laugh loudly and Namjoon would sheepishly smile.
I think Namjoon secretly knew it was true and wasn't delighted by the thought.
I would feel out of place at times though, like the third wheel, but I am genuinely happy for them.
Except, I could feel Namjoon's steady gaze towards me and not at his girlfriend.
"I can't wait for tomorrow," I exclaim happily.
Namjoon and Imani are coming over tomorrow, and Imani says that she has a fun spot to go to after my house. She didn't specify of course, but it was something "special" for my recent birthday.
"Yeah me too!" Imani smiled at me.
Namjoon nodded smiling slightly.
I finally reached my house waving bye to Imani and Namjoon as I open the door to see my parents sitting at the table. My mom's face was filled with irritation but my dad's however was maintained contentful.
My dad has a smile plastered on his face, which I've not seen in a long time. My mom had a forced smile on her face when she noticed me but clearly, they have been fighting about something.
"Asslam Walaykum," I say to my parents.
"Walaykum Asslam, beti." My dad replies to me maintaining his smile.
My mom mumbles the reply and side-eyes, my dad.
"What's...wrong?"
"Nothing, just...we need to talk." My dad solemnly announces.
My mom looks at me with her hazel eyes glistening towards me.
We're talking about that. I'm going to pretend I don't know.
I sigh as I sit down my bag falling on the floor.
"What is it?"
He took a deep breath but his smile returned to his face anyways. Like a kid nervously saying what they did wrong to his mom without upsetting her.
"You know that we never really visit my side of the family. I know how that might upset you. So I decided to do something that will make you feel closer to my family."
"Get to the point." My mom sharply remarks to my dad her brows furrowing.
I tried not to smirk.
"Yes, umm." He looks at me ignoring my mom's comment, staring at me with his green eyes, looking like a beautiful jewel-like emerald. "My brother, he is the King of Almaraya."
I look at the table with no words.
Should I act surprised?
"Oh..."
"Yes, and because my brother and I fought when we were younger. It was so serious that my father banished me."
I nod paying attentively to him now.
Mom never told me this side of the story.
"Now, for the sake of your well being and the family, you must-
He stopped for a second.
"Marry one of the princes." He continues whispering so softly barely a mouse could hear.
I couldn't help but laugh mentally. He really thought I didn't know about this earlier.
The dinner table was silent.
My mom didn't utter a word however her face was glum.
"It's for the best of your future." He pronounces to me.
"I know, but..." I look at the table grunting. "Can I still become a doctor, please?"
He stays quiet for a bit as if he is unsure of the answer himself.
"If your future husband and the King allow it."
I look at him directly in his green eyes. His eyes were stern, saying that if I fight back he will not let me rebel.
There's no point in arguing anyways.
I get up from the table and could feel my contacts getting blurry blocking my vision.
"Wait Y/N please let-
I glance back to see my mom holding his hand to express to let me go.
I'm shedding tears again just like three years ago.
It's because I won't be able to achieve my dream unless someone else decides. I don't get to decide for myself.
It could be because I have to forget about him.
I fall onto my bed screaming into my pillow before getting up and trying to compose myself.
I dial the number on my phone and he picks up.
"Hey, Y/N what is it?" The male voice asks with a spark of excitement in his voice.
"We are done Jungkook."
