"What was that?" Lizzie asked, freezing.  Joel stood up.

"I don't know, but I don't like it."

He ran from the room, grabbing a sword from one of the chests quickly.  Lizzie followed.

When she saw what was going on, she knew she had to do something.

This is about me.

The Grimlands were attacking.

"Where is she!?" The king roared.  The royals of the Mesa looked confused.

"Who!?" Jill fired back.  The king laughed darkly.

"Ah, playing stupid.  Fine!  We'll do it ourselves!" He set up a TNT canon, sending his soldiers to fight.  A boy slightly younger than herself ran after them, screaming,

"STOP!  IT'S WRONG!"

Joel raised his weapon.

"Lizzie," he said, "Go grab one of your weapons."

She nodded, rushing to her room.

This is all my fault!  They're looking for me!

I have to help the Mezalean Empire!

She picked up the trident, returning to where Joel fought with a soldier from the Grimlands.  She stabbed the soldier in the back with her trident.  Joel glanced up.

"Thanks," he breathed.  She nodded.

"Come on," she said, "We have to fight."

Joel nodded, going after her.  Eventually, they reached the library.  Lizzie paused.

"I'll catch up," she assured him, "But I really need to drink some water.  Like, a few bottles."

Joel sighed but ran off.

She drank three water bottles as fast as she could, taking off after Joel.  She ran into the dining room to see him fighting the boy from earlier.  And the boy from earlier was winning.

Lizzie knew she couldn't sneak up behind this kid, so she would have to fight him directly.  She ran in front of Joel, holding her trident, glaring at the boy through her icy blue eyes, pink hair falling around her face.  He stepped back, eyes widening.

I know this kid... He's fWhip, the prince! She realized.  She shoved Joel away.  "Run!" She hissed.  He looked like he wanted to argue, but she pushed him towards the door.  He obliged, running off.

"It's you!" fWhip exclaimed.  Lizzie nodded.

"It is, and if you tell anyone you saw me, I'll kill you," she assured him.  His face paled.

"L- listen, I don't want to take you for ransom, it's the rest of my family that does," he defended himself.  "I won't ask why you're here, but-"

She smiled darkly.  "Good.  Then scram.  And don't hurt any of the royals here or at my home."

He shook his head.  "You don't understand, I can't just leave you here, how will I make them let you go?" He argued.  She exhaled.

"Alright, fWhip," she said.  "I know my kingdom has probably sent out an alert looking for me, so I have to ask you to do something.  Go to my kingdom, without anyone else.  Explain what's happening.  They'll take care of you.  Tell them that I'll be home in a week and a half.  And don't go home until I arrive there.  That way, I can say that you were found in my Empire, that while I was going home, I found you.  You can tell your family you were going to threaten us.  You got all that?  Also, I see those scars.  You clearly aren't safe at home.  Tell your family that the royal family of the Empire of The Deep are able to defend you."

fWhip's eyes shone.  "Thank you so much," he whispered.  She smiled at him.

"No problem." The kid gave her a quick hug and then took off.

I hope I can trust him.

She ran out to where Joel was waiting.

"I'm sorry, I would have called for backup, but-"

"Don't worry about it.  I sent that kid running," she dismissed his worry.  He sighed, relieved.

"He was well-trained!" Joel noted.

"He was the prince of one of the most aggressive Empires, I'm not surpised.  It was just by dumb luck that I won," Lizzie said with a laugh.  Joel nodded.

"Well, good job.  Now we have to fight!"

"Actually, it looks like it's under control," Lizzie said with a sneaky smile.

"WHERE IS MY SON?" The king of the Grimlands bellowed.  "I WILL FIND HIM!  GRIMLANDS, RETREAT!"

Lizzie and Joel watched them back off, and then turned their attention to the damage from the explosions.

"Any casualties?" Lizzie wondered.  Overhearing, a medic piped up.

"Only a few, thank goodness," he said.  "The TNT only hit the right wing, the sleeping chambers, but since it's mid-day, very few people were there, and their soldiers were fairly easy to fight off."

"That's good," Lizzie said.  The medic nodded.

"Now, run along," he said.  "I have soldiers to take care of."

"Right!" Joel exclaimed.  "Sorry!" He dragged Lizzie away.

"Alright," he said, assessing the damage.  "It looks like the builders and I have work to do."
