Chapter Ten

Yes, Jimmy's idea won.

He was now the ruler of the Cod Empire, while Lizzie had the Ocean Empire.  They were very close allies still.

Lizzie also wanted to work with another empire.

She swam across to the Mezalean empire, eyes going wide as she took in the buildings there.  Yes, she had done rebuilding in her own empire, but Joel had added so much to his.  It looked powerful.

She took a deep breath, prepared to meet with Joel after so many years.

She saw his crown atop his brown and green, messy hair, but she didn't see the king of the Mesa.  She saw the awkward thirteen year old boy she had known so long ago.

"Joel, king of the Mezalean Empire," she greeted him.  "Ocean's blessings."

He inspected her face for a moment.

"Can you repeat your name?" He asked.  "I'm not sure you ever told me, actually."

She smiled.  "You would be right.  My name... Is Lizzie.  Queen Lizzie of the Ocean Empire."

Joel inhaled sharply.

"Lizzie?" He repeated.  "Is it... Really you?"

She nodded.

"I told you I knew the royal family," she pointed out.  He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, that's an understatement, clearly," he said.  She nodded.

"Major understatement," she agreed.

"So... You were here for an... Alliance?" Joel asked hopefully.  She nodded.

"Uh, of course, why else would I be meeting the man whose life I saved?  And whose entire family saved my life?" She returned.  Joel shrugged.

"That's a fair point, I suppose," he admitted.  "So... You'll be my ally?  And help Mezalea, and I can help the Ocean Empire?"

"Of course!" Lizzie exclaimed.  "I mean, we saved each other's lives, if that doesn't make us allies I don't know what does."

Joel smiled- the same mysterious smile Lizzie remembered from when he showed her his hideout.  But as he walked away, she knew she had to ask him something.

"Wait- Joel!"

He turned around.  "Yeah?"

She paused.  "How's Violet?"

Joel smiled.  "Violet's doing well.  She has a new girlfriend, actually, and also a datefriend."

Lizzie grinned.  "What are their names?"

"She's dating Penelope- that's her girlfriend- and then the datefriend... Their name is Zee."

Lizzie nodded.  "I'm glad Violet's doing well.  Tell her that Lizzie says hello, from the Ocean Empire."

Joel nodded.  "I will."

...

As time passed, the two of them helped each other whenever they needed it.  In fact, they did more than that.  Lizzie often did extra things, whereas Joel helped Jimmy as well, which made both Lizzie and her brother happy.

And then came the proposal.

"... And when I said proposal... I mean..."

The ring fell around the Ocean Queen.

"I meant proposal.  Lizzie, will you marry me?" Joel asked.  Lizzie gasped.

"Yes!" She exclaimed.  Joel grinned.

Lizzie laughed awkwardly.  "I kind of thought you were just having the scaffolding drop and that was meant to be romantic," she admitted.  Joel sighed.

"Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie," he muttered.

All the royals attended the wedding, and a few more people as well.  Lizzie and Joel both decided that Violet, Zee and Penelope deserved to be invited.  Jimmy was about to be mad about the marriage, but then he remembered that Joel had helped him, and had a cod head in his base, and he decided it was okay.

The wedding was wonderful.  Even though their friendship grew apart with his dislike of Jimmy, fWhip was happy to attend the wedding of the woman who helped him out of a bad situation.  Everyone was at peace, for a change.

A few months after the wedding, Lizzie realized something.

"Joel?"

"Yeah?"

"Years ago, when I first met Violet- were you... Jealous?"

"... Yeah."

"Oh."

There was a pause.

"That was silly of you."

"Eh, didn't feel silly at the time."

"Fair enough."

There was another pause.

"Well, we've done it.  We've met again," Joel said.

"Of course we did.  I said we would, and I'm always right," Lizzie replied firmly.  Joel chuckled.

"You're not wrong."

"I'm never wrong."

Joel rolled his eyes but nodded.

"Now, it's a good thing our Empires are united.  We're gonna have some wars to win," he said.  Lizzie grinned.

"What else is new?  Come on, we have battles to plan."

Thank you all for reading this trainwreck, I mostly wrote it out of boredom on a long car ride, so... Yeah.  I'm aroace, forgive my lack of knowledge on how romantic attraction works.  Also, forgive my lack of proof-reading, I really spent far too many hours on this today but I wanted it published ASAP.  This fills in the gap in my Seablings headcanons and brings all you Jizzie shippers joy, and attracts EmpiresSMP fans, so..
