Part 1: What Does This Mean For Us?
His lips were so tender, so entrancing. She wasn't ready to stop yet. She kept him close, restricting their lips from parting. She wanted to saviour moment, the taste of his lips even the scent oozing from him.
She could feel it reigniting, the feeling she'd thought she smothered. The one she thought she'd never experience ever again, the one that is the reason she's where she is, the one that is the reason she's who she is today. But she wasn't thinking about all that because it didn't matter just like everything except this moment.
Her grip on his clothing began loosening, she could herself becoming herself again, her normal state of mind returning and after what felt like an eternity of bliss, he felt him gently pulling away almost like he didn't want to and secretly she didn't want him to either.
"Why'd you do you that?!" She lashes out, pushing him away from her.
"I don't know you too well but I do know you know what it means when a guy kisses you." He responds followed by his signature smile. "It's not like you didn't like it." He continues.
"I... Uh.." She could feel her face going red. "You need to leave. Get out, right now!" She commands practically kicking him out.
"Hey, wait... Hold on -" And he's cut off by Temari shutting the door on him.
"What a drag."
But he wasnt surprised by her reaction somehow, even though he was expecting his face to be buried in the floor instead she kicks him without giving him a chance to even say anything. He smiled at the thought. He left knowing it'd be futile to beg her to let him in. He was still going to see eventually anyway.
To think that he'd fallen hard for a troublesome individual like her, it was still unbelievable. Only a couple of weeks ago if someone told him that his first love would be Temari, he wouldn't believe it, he wouldn't even consider it as a possiblity in fact he'd laugh at how ridiculous it would sound only to be proven wrong by this moment.
He found himself reminiscing about it, reliving every second of it. He could still feel her soft lips against his, he could still feel her grip on his clothing, how she pulled him close when he attempted to pull out even though he didn't want to. He could still remember every detail of it. But who would forget such an experience.
Now he couldn't help but ask himself what's next for him and her. Obviously, they have to talk about it at some point even though Temari is... reluctant to at the moment.
What is she going to say? What is she going to do? Will she avoid him or, pretend like it didn't happen? Or maybe, will she say that was all it was, a kiss, nothing more nothing less? That's probably what she will say. Out of all the scenarios, that's the most likely that will happen. After all, he wasn't sure about Temari's feelings. How she reacted doesn't really help in knowing how she truly feels but the way she kissed him though, there's was no way it was just a kiss to her. But he didn't want to get his hopes up.
"She probably doesn't feel the same way." He thought. "I shouldn't bother myself with this right now. It's not helping."
--------
She heard the sound his footsteps fading in a distance, letting her know he was leaving. She opened her door to see for herself if he was really gone. She was relieved but a little disappointed, she didn't really want him to go but she didn't really have the courage to face him after what had just happened.
She'd felt this way before only this time what she felt was a little different and stronger. No doubt he'd fallen head over heels for him, she'd realized it but never really given it a fair amount of thought but she knew why.
It affrighted her though, what if history repeats itself? She placed walls around her so that no one would dare to climb above them hurt her again but he did it. He climbed all the way to the top. He made his way into her heart. She knew he was going to come back eventually, there was no way he could leave things the way they are. She knew what he was going to say but she didn't know how she will have to react or what she will have to say.
This was not 'just a kiss' it was more than that, even she felt it.
The following evening and it was already raining harder than a couple of hours ago. He leaped from one building to another until he reached reached hers. Hopefully she was ready. He knocked but there was no answer.
"Could she have gone somewhere?"
He tried again but still there was no answer. Maybe she went to see him or maybe not. Waiting for her would be a drag. He attempted to leave but she finally emerged out.
"Hey." She says in an inaudible tone.
"I was starting to think there was no one home."
"Well, as you can see I'm here." She responds, folding her arms and leaning against the wall. She tried all in her power to avoid eye contact but she still couldn't help looking at him every few seconds.
"And you're calmer now. Earlier you didn't give me a chance to talk to you properly." He says, wearing his signature smile.
She didn't give out a response, all she could do was feel embarrassed at how she reacted. He gave out a mocking laugh.
"What're you laughing it?" She asks, trying hide how embarrassed she is.
"Nothing. So can I come in?"
She felt herself getting hot again as he passes by her and it only made her relive the scene again.
Somehow he found it a little amusing seeing her like this, all flustered and nervous. The two words he never thought he'd use to describe her.
"Why're you looking at me like that?"
"You're just... Uh... Nevermind. I only came to talk to you about what happened earlier." He states "I imagine you already know how I feel about you considering what I did but I want to know how you.. really feel."
"What makes you think I feel anything?"
"I mean you did... kiss me back." He counters, scratching the back of his head.
"Who said i kissed you back?"
"Well you didn't exactly stop me either." He says. "Didn't it mean anything to you?" This time she sensed the seriousness in his tone.
"It .. i..." This was it, the moment she'd been thinking about all day. The moment she risks it all again.
"We don't hold to the past, we learn from it."
The words echoed in her mind. Maybe she could do the same, stop letting herself be a slave to the past and move on. Maybe it'll be different this time. What's the worst that could happen, right? Shikamaru wouldn't do that to her, would he?
She calmed herself and finally looked him in the eye.
"It did." She answers.
"So does this mean you -"
"Yes, i... feel the same way."
