So she kept walking trying to keep calm, more accurately trying to look calm. Trying to keep her 'expressionless' face, as everybody would call it. She still had doubts about leaving, even though her brother assured her that it's okay she still couldn't help but question if it's right or not. And to think that Kankuro saw through her, through her 'cold' as most people call her. Her 'cold' and 'rude' mien. She laughed at the thought and at the thought of Kankuro being so observant.
She stopped in her tracks and immediately lost her train of thought as her eyes widen in distress and not moving any part of her body. She knew it was bound to happen if she came to this side of the village but she still couldn't take it well... Seeing him again. He was still the same, still had the same smile, the same smile she used to love. The same smile he used to give her when telling her that she loves her and when she comforted her when she was upset.
"Daisuke."
She was so fixated on him that she didn't notice the female about her height walking beside him. Could she be her lover? Could she be the next victim of his? As they drew closer, she started moving again, trying to be calm as she possibly can but this time it seemed impossible.
"Temari!" Daisuke called out to her.
She thought of ignoring him. For some reason she couldn't.
"Daisuke!" She responded.
Both individuals walked up to her.
"How've you been? It's been a long time since I've seen you." Daisuke states
"Fine." She says simply, still trying to keep it together.
"I see. Hey, how if we get together and catch -"
"Excuse me. I have to go." Temari cuts him off and walks out on him.
No words could describe the rage and disgust she felt for him. She's always loathed him. She knew exactly what he was trying to say. But on top of the anger and hate she felt for him was the pain, the pain he still managed to inflict on her. How she even managed to contain herself even for that brief moment was a mystery to her. With every step she took, every memory of her and him resurfaced in her mind. Every memory from the beginning to the very end. All she could do was hold on to her arms as tight as she could and try to stop tears from surfacing. A lot of people know her as a strong, cold and rude person but not a lot know how fragile she really is. As much as she hated it, she knew it was the truth and there's no denying it anymore. And as for going away for while, she wasn't exactly sure about it before but she was damn well sure now.
After what seemed like forever, she made it to Michiko's house. She knocked.
"Temari?" Michiko says in disbelief.
"Hey." She says, trying to look as normal as she can.
"I thought you didn't like coming here."
"I don't. But there's something I need to tell you. May I come in?"
"So what's going on? And.. How're you doing?" Michiko asks with concern.
"I... I came to say goodbye." She states
"Goodbye? What do you mean?"
"I'm going away for a while. Away from here... From everything."
"I don't.. Understand. You mean you're leaving the village. Why?"
"Because I have to. I can't be here right now. I don't want to be like this for rest of my life. I don't want to be this person anymore. To be the cold hearted girl everybody thinks I am. I want to change, I want to change from this person I am now... To the person I used to be."
"This is the first time she's opened up to me. And those tears... I wish she'd opened up sooner. I guess she wasn't ready then."
She took Temari's hand in hers.
"I'll always be here for you."
She quickly wiped her tears away and turned her head elsewhere to hide her embarrassment. Michiko could only laugh at her.
"Shut up." Temari says
"It's okay to cry." Michiko says in between her giggling. "Anyway where did you say you were going?"
"The Hidden Leaf Village."
"The Hidden Leaf? Any particular reason why?"
She wasn't sure herself, maybe the Hidden Tree would be a better option but something in the back of her head told her Leaf was better.
"What's that smile about?" Michiko asks
"What smile?"
"Don't act dumb. You were smiling just now."
"I should get going. I'm leaving today." Temari states.
"I haven't seen you smile like that in a long time."
"Yeah, well. Don't get used to it." She walks to the door. "Tell Shizuka I'm sorry I couldn't say bye to her. And that I'll miss her while I'm away. I'll miss you too." She confesses.
"We'll miss you too. When are you coming back?"
"I don't know. I don't want to be away for too long."
Just a couple of months should be enough. She thought. It's just morning and yet it felt like it's been a long and exhausting day. Her encounter with Daisuke was not something she was hoping would happen even though she knew there was still a chance it would happen, which it did. And the person he was with, who was she? Hopefully she won't turn out like her if she's her lover. As to why she was worried so much about her was a mystery to her, maybe she's just over thinking things. She doesn't even know her.
