Morning. I've already dreamt of waking up a thousand times. I sat up and smiled at my surroundings for no reason at all. Today was the wedding day; oh yes it was. It was a gush of excitement flooding my brain. Today could be the one day where everyone could dance and rejoice.
I got into my temporary silk gown to wear down to the reception. Anna had already left the house ages ago. My mum was already ready too.
"Grab a Danish, you can eat it in the car, we have to go," She put her shoes on and headed out the door. I grabbed a freshly baked raspberry custard danish from the counter and went upstairs to get my bag. The night before, I had already packed a duffel bag full of all the things I'll need. Hair brush, spare clothes etc. The sun was still rising through the clouds. It's all so sudden as we rush into the car.
"Here, Anna got you a coffee this morning," my mum passed me a coffee. The aroma filled the entire car. Mmm...coffee. I sat there feeling as incredible as ever, a coffee in one hand and a Danish in the other. My eyes were still adjusting to the morning rays of sunshine.
We finally drove into the beach-side reception and we were led to a room where the make-up and hair artists were.
"Tara?" A lady from the hair and make-up team. I followed her into a compartment of the room, in front of a mirror.
"Hi Tara, my name's Diane, I'll be doing your hair and make-up today. I met with the bride this morning and she told me what she had in mind for you, so I'll just start on the hair, is that okay with you?" She looked at me through the mirror, while standing behind me.
"Yes," My voice was quiet. What else am I meant to say? Diane started parting my hair, slightly to the left. This was Hollywood star treatment. She began to twist the top half of my hair. It took a lot of concentration, bobby pins, hair spray and hair accessories. When she finished what seemed like my makeover of a lifetime, I could hardly recognise myself; my hair looked so gorgeous.
I closed my eyes shut as she placed the make-up onto my face with quick, even brush strokes. It tickled a little as she brushed along my cheekbone. It felt really weird yet calming sensation. Diane pulled out six different shades of liquid lipstick and placed each one onto the table in front of the mirror.
Not soon after that, another lady entered and gently placed a crown of blooming flowers onto my head.
"Tara, come this way, we have your dress ready." All of a sudden, another lady approaches me. I followed her into a big sunroom looking over sea, with the sun barely peeking over the horizon. My dress was hung up against the big window, making it look so elegant.
I changed. Stepping back up towards the giant arched window, pouring through golden rays of sunshine. My dress dragged behind me and I placed one of my hands onto the window pane. The room lingers with the smell of expensive candles. The sun flared brightly, spreading her gold in every direction. My straight hair fell gently onto my shoulders.
"Tara, it's time." My mum knocks upon the door and sticks her head in.
My mother and I walked out of the building, and onto the beach, along with Anna's other friends; Aspen, Collette and Dakota. Aspen had little twin girls, who Anna had selected to be the flower girls. Both looked adorable; a flower crown (which matched mine) sat gently on top of their delicate blonde hair. All of our dresses somehow fit the rustic aesthetic of the entire wedding.
Our garden bouquets for the entire wedding. I stayed out late in the grove last night assembling the perfect bunch of flowers for all the girls. Olive twigs and white spring flowers. These bouquets were works of art.
