Chp.3: Living Together
------------------------°°°
Neil's POV:
Sitting down on one of the lower tree branches, I watched as Luffy cried his eyes out.
Sabo, who was paying him no mind was lecturing Ace on his bad habit of not running away.
Sighing quietly to myself, I heard Sabo say something about Bluejam chasing after us.
I stopped listening and I stared blankly at the sky.
Tiredly, I yawned and laid myself down on the branch, shifting into a more comfortable position.
I quickly began to doze off because of how tired I was from all the running and fighting I did.
But I was soon startled awake by Ace shouting.
"Why didn't you just tell them?!"
"You knew those guys kill women and children without a second thought!"
Sighing, I opened my eyes to see what was happening, I saw Ace shouting at Luffy, not understanding why he kept our treasure safe to that extent.
Speaking up, Luffy's voice trembled slightly as he said.
"If I'd told them, I couldn't be your friend anymore!"
I smiled at what Luffy said, but Ace didn't seem to get it, he just became even more confused.
"So what?! It's better than dying! Why do you want to be friends with me so bad anyways?!"
"Don't you remember what I did to you?! And now you followed me all the way here!"
Luffy's whole body was shaking, his snot was dripping down his nose as he cried out.
"Because! I got nobody else!!"
"I can't go back to Windmill Village, and I hate bandits!...if I can't follow you.."
"...I'll be all alone!"
Luffy's voice broke a little as he croaked out.
"I don't want to be alone! I hate it more than being hurt!"
With furrowed brows and an unsure voice, Ace asked.
"...What about your parents?"
"I don't have any family except grandpa."
When he finished that sentence, I cleared my throat to catch their attention.
"Ahem."
They turned to look at me and I just pointed at myself and said.
