I arrived in Rivendell and hid Dior on the outskirts out of sight, I snuck past the guards and hid just in time to see and hear the meeting taking place, a mix of elves, dwarfs, men and hobbits all circled each other around a pedestal with a ring atop it. I listened as they argued over the fate of the ring, the one called Boromir said to use the ring to defeat the enemy but was shot down by the one named Aragorn. Boromir seemed to question who this man really was and what he would know, when an elf stood up to him, I had never seen an elf as handsome as him and my stomach did a flip.
"This is no mere Ranger. He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance."
I Paused, I had heard of Arathorn in my travels he was king of Gondor at one time.
"Aragorn? This is Isildur's heir?" said Boromir.
"And heir to the throne of Gondor"
So I was right, A sense of importance came to me, I would need to keep him safe as his time would come.
"Havo dad, Legolas...(Sit down, Legolas..)"
Legolas so that was the elf's name, it suited him.
As the meeting went on the fellowship I was told to protect and help was formed and everyone dispersed to get ready to depart on the quest. I made my way back to Dior, I figured it would safer to follow them on foot then by horse back. I whispered in sindarin for Dior to return to Lothlorien, he nuzzled my cheek and ran off. I waited for the fellowship to pass me before silently following them.
As I follow them I train my ears to there conversations so that I have a rough idea on where they are going.
"We must hold to his course west of the misty Mountains for forty days. If our luck holds, the Gap of Rohan will still be open to us. From there, our road turns east, to Mordor." Gandalf says to the others.
Not much threatens them as the journey carries on, they were resting on some large white rocks, Boromir was teaching the hobbits Merry and Pippin how to use a sword while Aragorn watches. Sam is cooking at a camp fire with Frodo, Gimli goes up to Gandalf and start having a discussion about the path they are taking. Legolas' eyes are fixed on a distant dark patch which darts about the sky, like flying smoke in the wind. I train my eyes to it as well, Legolas yells 'Crebain from Dunland!'
"Hide!" yells Aragorn.
As the Crebain circle the rocks I knew I needed to draw them away from the group, I pull out my bow and shot an arrow as far away from them as I can, hoping the sound draws them away. Lucky it does and the group is none the wiser that I was there.
"Spies of Saruman. The passage South is being watched." States Gandalf.
Gandalf made the choice to lead them through the pass of Caradhras. As we climb the mountain I find it hard to keep a distance from them due to the storm that is raging, a voice over the air makes me realize that this isn't an ordinary storm. I here Gandalf chanting into the wind but it does nothing as an avalanche of snow falls on them, Legolas is to close to the edge and would fall, using my speed, I dash to him and yank his arm back to the mountain edge just as the snow hits. I'm the first to emerge from the snow and quickly hide, as they start popping out of the snow they argue over what to do.
"Let the ring bearer decide.... Frodo?" said Gandalf and everyone was silent.
Frodo made the choice to go through the mines of Moria, it would be harder to keep them safe but I continued nonetheless. As they reached the hidden door I waited for them to figure out how to enter, Sam was with Aragorn as they sent the pony they had back the way they had came, Sam looked heart broken. Pippin was throwing stones into the water before being warned not to, Gandalf got frustrated and through his staff down Frodo seemed to figure out the riddle and asked for the elvish word for Friend, once Gandalf said the word the doors opened. As everyone walked in I snuck in behind them, I quickly discovered along with them that dead dwarves and Goblins littered the ground. They yelled to get out When a monster from the lake attacked, I remained inside and shot arrows past them into the creature. They all scrambled back inside the mountain and unfortunately the monster destroyed the doorway so now we were trapped inside.
