Chapter Two: Secret

HAZEL

After my class was finished for the day I made my way back over to the music hall where I was meeting Jake and Rachel to go get coffee like we always did. It was our thing and I missed it while I was away. By the time I reached the music hall Jake had already been let out and was sitting on the steps outside playing on his phone.

'So Jake, did you make Adam your husband?'

I perched myself next to him and he scoffed in my general direction before putting his phone away.

'Hazel girl, it will take me some time to get my husband but if you must know I planted the seeds and hopefully it will go somewhere.'

I linked my arm through his and rested my head on his shoulder, if people walking past didn't know us they would assume we were a couple but those that did know us knew that Jake played for the other team and we were just really close. Though I remembered when Jake was drunk once that he did confess that he'd go straight for me which flattered me and infuriated Rachel.

'Maybe you should focus on finding a cute non famous guy, make Adam jealous and have him begging you to go out with him. Anyway have you seen Rachel? She didn't wait for me after class so I just assumed she was with you.'

Jake shook his head and put his hands in his coat pockets.

'She always waits for you, here let me give her a quick ring.'

He pulled his phone from his pocket and dialled Rachel's number which we both knew off by heart. After a minute he hung up, a defeated expression of his face.

'It went straight to voicemail. Maybe we should head off, who knows she might end up meeting us there.'

We stood up still arm in arm and walked towards the student car park. Looks like Rachel would be walking to Starbucks while Jake drove the two of us. As I neared the car I felt a cold chill run up my spine and I unlatched myself from Jake and wrapped my arms around my chest. I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me; I turned in a full circle but couldn't spot another living soul in sight. Maybe I was going crazy, or someone was watching me from the scattering of cars left in the car park.

'Are you okay girl? You've been off all day.'

I smiled weakly at Jake and shuffled to the passenger side of his car, he sounded genuinely concerned for me but then again I was spinning around in a car park thinking someone was watching me.

'I'm good, now let's go and get coffee because this girl here Jake needs her caffeine fix.'

I slid into the car and waited for Jake to join me. Had I come back to college too soon? Maybe I should take some more time off? After all I was top of my classes and caught up on the work I missed. Maybe I needed a few more recovery days before I faced the world again.

UNKNOWN POV

'Crap that was close; she could sense us but couldn't locate us.'

'Are we sure that she's a werewolf?'

I turned and faced my partner with a scowl etched onto my lips.

'Of course I am boy, she was the only survivor and in her statement she said she was bitten but the bite marks were never found. Plus Maroon 5 popping into her college seems a little odd out of all the colleges in LA.'

The boy next to me slumped back in his seat and pulled his phone out. Was he texting the wolf girl's friend? We needed him to get close to her so that we could lure or trap Hazel and either make another werewolf extinct or bait Maroon 5 and kill five birds with one little girl.
