Chapter Thirteen: One More Night

HAZEL

When we got back to the house I excused myself to go upstairs and unpack. However I overheard Mickey asking Adam why my phone went dead and he explained it had an unscheduled meeting with a wall. This made me smile as I carried my bags up the stairs with ease, hopefully I'd have a new phone soon so I could keep in touch with Jake.

I set about unpacking the small bits and pieces to make my new room feel more like home than something foreign and unwelcoming. I didn't bring much because I did intend to go back to my old apartment when all the hunter hassle was over, however I did bring my laptop. Before I could boot it up though, someone knocked on my door.

"Come in."

Mickey popped his head around the door; I had a sneaking feeling this had to do with me bringing my laptop to the house. He was a tech bloodhound instead of a werewolf.

"Can I take a look at your laptop? I need to make sure no one can get on it from the outside just like I did with your phone...well at least until you broke it."

"It was an accident Mickey; the wall really liked my phone."

I handed the laptop over and went to sit cross legged on the bed. Mickey hummed under his breath as he slipped a memory card into the laptop. These boys were paranoid over safety, it had to be a hazard of being werewolves masking as a popular band known all around the world.

"Adam, Jesse, PJ and I have to head to the studio but Matt and James are staying here at the house."

I nodded, Adam had already told me in the car on the way back. I wondered why they were leaving Matt and James, was it because I was more comfortable around them? Most likely and maybe the band didn't fully trust me to be in their house alone with everything going on. I mentally rolled my eyes at the distrust in me; if they wanted me to be part of this pack then trust was needed on both sides. Hell I trusted them enough to pack my bags and move into a house full of guys in less than forty-eight hours.

"Hello Hazel. It's done. Are you okay? You look out of it."

I smiled and shook my head at the concern in Mickey's voice. It sounded genuine; Mickey was fast becoming one of my favourites along with Matt and James.

"Yeah I'm good, just deep in thought."

"You've had a long day, we all have. We'll see you later."

I gratefully took my laptop back off him and booted it up again only to find that Mickey had put himself as my background. I chuckled and glared at the back of his retreating form, the cheeky bugger.

"You're welcome Hazel."

I found a pillow and chucked it at the back of his head, but he dodged with ease before turning back to face me and bowed before closing the door after him. I clicked onto my settings and changed the background back to a picture of me, Jake and Rachel chilling at the beach with cocktails. I leaned against the headboard and opened the internet and hovered my fingers over the keys. A part of me wanted to see if it had been a pap at my apartment complex and if the picture of Adam and I kissing had made it online yet. However I couldn't bring my fingers to type any words.

I shut down the laptop and put it to the side. I couldn't stay cooped up in my bedroom, Matt and James were downstairs so I might as well be social and maybe get a little more information off them about the hunter's fixation with this pack. I needed to know the facts about that night in the woods; I only knew half the story.

James was in the lounge alone, I could hear Matt somewhere else downstairs. He looked up from his phone when he heard me enter, a warm gentle smile on his lips. James was an all around nice guy and you couldn't help but smile back when he smiled at you.
