Chapter 5

Bucky's POV~

When I saw T'Challa stand outside our door I knew something was wrong. He came in and we did a small bro hug. His sister Shuri was with him. I smiled softly and she hugged me starting to cry but I didn't notice till I heard her light sobs. Her and I were dating before I knew that Y/n was alive.

Shuri: We need your help, James.
Bucky: What's wrong?

I could feel Y/n give me a death glare. I knew something bad was going to happen. I didn't know how to address this with Shuri and Y/n. If only there was a way I could break it to them without losing one of them. I loved Y/n for MANY years. And I loved Shuri for a whole 2 years.

Y/n: Bucky? Can I talk to you?
Bucky: Yeah. I'll be back, okay?
Shuri: It's okay... Is that her?
Bucky: I'll explain everything, I promise. Give me 30 minutes with her.
Shuri: Go ahead.

I gave her a heartwarming smile but she looked at me like she was hurt. I understand that. I walked with Y/n to my room and I looked at her. She was having mixed emotions. She was angry and sad but heartbroken all at the same time.

Bucky: Can I explain?
Y/n: What is there to explain, Buck? You're with her. Be with her. I'll go. I hope you're happier. I knew one day you'd fall for someone new... But if she breaks your heart like lovers do... Just know I'll be waiting here for you. I love you, Bucky. I'll see you in the future. 

She started to leave. I tried to stop her. 

Bucky: Look at me. Just once more. Listen to me. I need you to listen, because if you don't then you'll never know. Why I'm with her.
Y/n: I've heard enough. I'm not mad. I just wish you told me sooner. 
Bucky: Look, sit. I'll get her and I'll explain EVERYTHING. I promise. 

She nodded and sat down. I didn't leave I called for Shuri. She came in and she sat across the room trying not to create conflict. Y/n's eyes filled with tears. I sat in between them.

Bucky: Y/n, I've been gone.. A long time. When I 'died' I was tossed off a train. Steve tried to save me and, I was kidnapped by HYDRA. They used these machines to control my mind. They temporarily erased my memories. After Steve "Saved" me from Hydra, I was hidden until he found me a small war between the Avengers happened. T'Challa, the guy out in the catsuit... He took me to this beautiful place to get not only my mind but also my life. And after MANY months of staying out there and spending time with Shuri I asked her out. We went out a few times and we began to be a couple... It was 65-70 years before I looked at another woman.  I promise, I've always thought of you before myself.
Y/n: Buck. I'm not mad about any of this. I'm not. I'm okay with it. I wish you had told me, before I barged back into your life. I'm happy that you're happy. I am. Really. Truly. I won't lie. When I saw it... it hurt. But you get a good life. You have a best friend and a princess as your girlfriend. Don't screw it up. 
Bucky: Y/n-
Y/n: You deserve it! Go live it while you can! I'll always love you. And, I have to focus on myself. Especially after everything that had happened. It was good seeing you, Bucky. 

I got up to stop her but she left. I saw the tears in her eyes as she ran. It broke me. I was really in between a rock and a hard place now. Shuri came up and hugged me. I hugged her and kissed her head. She pulled away.

Shuri: Let me talk to her. Don't worry about it. 
Bucky: No, she wants to be alone. Its okay.
Shuri: So the woman you married a long time ago runs out and you don't go after her? The woman you love? Your 'first' love? Wow... What if that was me running?
Bucky: I'd chase you.
Shuri: Let me get her. Or if I don't you go after her. She needs you. Steve died and she has nobody. Go. 
Bucky: Are you sure?
Shuri: Yeah... You have to let the things you love go at some point.
Bucky: I'm not leaving you. 
Shuri: You need to. As much as it's gonna hurt me, you need to go.

I refused. I heard Sam clear his throat. He looked at me angrily. He shook his head and ran after her. I held onto Shuri and she pushed me away looking at me in the eyes. I can see the hurt. 

Shuri: I hate to put this out here but, it's her or me. We'll give you time. But, her or me. Bye, Sergeant Barnes.

She left me. She really did this. I didn't want her to go. As she walked away I was stuck in my trail shocked and hurt as well. I held the tears back. I heard sniffles and it was Shuri. She left with T'Challa and the Dora Milaje. Sam came back without her. 

Sam: You screwed up, big time. She has nowhere to go. I'm taking her home. You REALLY need to get your head out of your ass and think about what's going on. And I hope you choose the right one. Shuri is talking to her. 

I heard the door open loudly. I walked out of my room to see what was going on. T'Challa was there with Ayo and Okoye. I stumbled back. This is the time to run.... 

I ran out of my room and jumped out the window. I ran as fast as I could. I ran across town and to a spot only I knew. I hated this. I finally was able to break down. Hours later I heard footsteps and twigs snapping. I hid. I realized that it was Y/n. She was injuring herself. 

Bucky: Y/n?
Y/n: Oh- Bucky- Uhh.. Hi.. I'm gonna go.
Bucky: Wait! 
Y/n: BYE!!!

She ran as fast as she possibly could. I caught up and stopped in front of her. She rolled her eyes and walked away. I grabbed her wrist to stop her but she slapped me. 

HOW CAN I MAKE THIS RIGHT?!

I pulled her into my arms and kissed her. She pulled away and slapped me even harder than the last one.

Y/n: Leave me alone!! 
Bucky: I'm forced to choose! I came out here to think! I want you both but I can't have that! So, I've decided no matter how much I love.....
