Obito felt nervous, casually walking behind Kushina towards the person that he obviously had a death-match with and his students, who were the witnesses.

He gulped as Kushina half-ran to Minato and loudly greeted him and the three-students, with a smile.

Her red hair flowed and waved with Konohagakure's natural high winds as she went ahead and talk-grinned something to Rin.

Minato smiled at her as well but he was glaring at Obito most of the time. He already noticed he had a different mask.

Obito glanced at the three students and they didn't seem to at all be alert of his presence. Maybe Minato didn't tell them.

He glanced at the man again but this time he was again conversing with Kushina. "What about you, Tobi?"

Hopefully he didn't tell them...

"Tobi?"

Obito didn't notice but a small force had been nudging his artificial arm that was laying limply at his side.

"Tobi!"

He snapped out of it at another call of his name. Right. I'm Tobi...

Obi-Tobi, composed himself and looked down finally only to see another irritated face with goggles too big for even their face.

"Hey, what are you spacing out for?" the voice of the one nudging him, Obito, had said with a tinge of annoyance in his tone towards him.

Tobi shook his head. "Nothing. As you were saying?"

His younger self raised a brow at his response before asking again. "Are you participating in the Chunin exams?"

Tobi lost his sense of, if it's even called a sense, head-in-the-clouds.

He stared at his younger self dumbfoundedly at how confident he said that.

The others excluding Kushina and Rin stared at him as if he was stupid.

"Obito, how did you even assume that they aren't already Chunin?" Minato asked him and Obito seemed to have deflated.

"What's with all the looks?" he asked densely, pointing his eyes at their expressions. "I was only asking."

"Asking a stupid question." Kakashi said, crossing his arms this time. Obito tch'd at the Hatake's words, glaring at him through the goggles he didn't take off.

All the while Tobi stayed still, and completely out of it. Was I really this dumb back then? How did I even manage to start a war?

Wait, that's not a good thought.

Tobi just shook his head plainly as if it was just an ordinary yes or no question.

His younger self rolled his eyes. "At least he answered."

Kakashi shook his head as well and then turned back to Kushina.

"Anyway," the Uzumaki started, ignoring the new tense atmosphere.
"Do you want snacks?"

-----

"Why do you still wear a mask?" Rin asked all of a sudden.

Tobi paused, glancing at the girl with both eyes before shrugging. He didn't say anything after that and only continued to watch them eat their snacks under the shade of the tree.

"About the other day," Minato started this time, giving Tobi a smile anyone can easily call fake.

Tobi nodded, signalling for him to continue. Minato didn't like this gesture before- "Yeah!" Obito cut him off through seemingly awkward chews. "About the 'spar' you had with Minato-sensei."

Kakashi peaked his head out from behind a tree, showing that he was listening.

Obito stopped chewing and they all turned to him. "Why did you both have killing intent?"

"What?" Kushina blurted in obvious surprise.

Minato glanced Tobi's way before turning his head towards Kushina, who had a look of doubt in her expression as she listened intently to what they had to say concerning the Uchiha's question.

He didn't like the face she was giving him instead of the masked man.

Minato awkwardly coughed into his knuckles to lighten the already-damp mood.

"You see... Well, it was a spar-"

"To be honest I also didn't think it was just a spar." Kakashi piped up from the same tree.

Minato gulped as he looked at everyone around him, and also around the entirety of the training ground before sighing.

"I'm sorry." was what he said as he looked down.

Kushina started to fume. "What do you mean 'I'm sorry'? Is that all you have to say!?"

Her voice got louder and she started to get angry, as her reputation for always being mad and as such was even called the 'Red-Hot Habanero' in her younger days.

Minato flinched at the higher tone of her voice. He glared at Tobi but this time he didn't try to hide it.

Kushina stopped and she raised a brow, also turning to look at Tobi who Minato was glaring at fiercely.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." the blonde continued and the three currently sitting down started to get alert at the change of Minato's voice.

The blonde threw a kunai directly at Tobi and he dodged, jumping up into a standing position as Minato teleported behind him using the Flying Thunder God technique, just like in their fight.

Obito, Rin and Kushina stood up as well, but in surprise of the blonde's actions. Kakashi walked out from behind the tree to properly see what was going on.

Minato threw shurikens when Tobi was too far for him to use his kunai on and Tobi dodged every one of them.

"Minato, explain!" Kushina said loudly as Tobi finally fled using a Shunshin.

Minato sighed again as Tobi was finally nowhere to be seen.

He turned again and was now facing his students and Kushina. He had a frown on his face as he analysed their different expressions towards what he just did.

"Tobi is a rogue."

-----

Tobi Shunshin'd back to the forest.

This is bad.

He ran towards nowhere before stopping, panting all the while.

This is really bad.

He turned to the direction of the village where he just left from.

If they finally know I'm a potential threat to them, then...

He groaned, wanting to just smash the mask he had on to pieces in a new, blooming anger.

I won't be able to get them to trust me!

-----

That night Minato still hadn't been able to sleep.

He knew, somehow, that Tobi or whoever that really was wouldn't come back again to the village but there was this unfamiliar feeling clawing at him.

It was as if his gut was telling him that he had done the wrong thing.

But it couldn't have been wrong, right? That man could, and would have been a threat.

...

The feeling never left.

It couldn't be doubt.
