Like the entirety of the village itself, the Uchiha gave them similar looks but mixed in with disapprovement. And Kakashi couldn't help but notice that the more disappointed stares were directed at Obito.

Obito shouldered them like a professional, though, unyielding as the smile on his lips remained unchanging.

If it was Kakashi, he would've... Would've ended up like his father.

He shook his head, not wanting at all to think about it before abruptly pausing when he saw Obito stop walking.

Kakashi turned to look at Obito as the Uchiha pointed his head in front of him, with Kakashi getting the signal and looking in front of him.

And in front of him, was a house larger than almost all in the Uchiha compound.

"It's who we're looking for, isn't it?" Obito said while Kakashi eyed the house up and down.

Kakashi hummed, "So this is it..."

Obito nodded, before walking towards the door and knocking at least three times.

Kakashi followed him but a bit further behind in case the person who they were looking for didn't accept him.

After a few minutes of waiting, the door finally unlocked.

The two watched intently as the person swung the door open carefully.

Obito bowed, "Fugaku-sama."

The Uchiha clan head looked down at Obito from their drastic height difference and raised a brow when his eyes landed on Kakashi.

"What is the Hatake doing here, Obito?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at the younger Uchiha.

"Um..." his gaze landed on Kakashi again and he nodded, looking back up at Fugaku. "Actually, we have questions for you..."

-----

"Is this what this is all about?"

Fugaku stared at them both, as if contemplating if this was a prank or not.

With children learning Jutsu here and there, it wouldn't be a big surprise if this was some elaborate prank.

Even then, the two nodded.

Fugaku knew about how Obito gave his eye to Kakashi Hatake, who lost one due to a mission with their team.

"A question about the Sharingan..." he glanced at the Hatake boy again, and sighed. "Fine. But make it worth my time, and forget asking about the Uchiha's scrolls."

The two nodded. Silence reigned in the room.

Fugaku frowned. "So?"

Kakashi spared Obito a glance and encouraged him with a nod.

"Okay, so," Obito thought about it. "Uh- um... Uh..."

After an annoyed glance from Kakashi, he finally found the words to say; "Something triggered our Sharingan to hurt and bleed."

As soon as Fugaku heard what was said his eyes widened and his pitch black orbs darkened more than it already is.

At the change of demeanor and expression of the Clan head the two boys were almost immediately alert.

Fugaku was visibly not happy of the news as it seems to have an effect on his usual stoic face.

After a heavy silence stunned the atmosphere in the room, he stood up loudly.

Turning and without looking back at the two, he spoke. "Follow me."

Kakashi and Obito, similarly stunned by the head's proposal, went to stand up themselves and walked to continue and follow the clan head.

They both shared looks as they were led somewhere else in the house.

-----

Obito watched as Rin laid there on the bed, perfectly asleep like she never slept before.

Rin looked at peace; as if she knew nothing else could harm her after what transpired earlier in the week.

It had already been three days since the night her other two teammates came back to return her and just earlier that morning the duo had already been discharged.

Not to mention that only after those three days, the world war had quickly ended.

The retreat of the Mist village was surprising, but nonetheless they benefited from it as the Rock village also went and left the supposedly inevitable war between the three villages.

After that the world war itself diminished into nothing but history.

No one was to be thanked though, as it finished all by itself with the villages retreating one by one.

The Hokage had only visited Rin once, and that was before ebe went to his office and didn't leave again.

The paperworks became worse and because he was the new Hokage (new Hokages are always prone to have plenty more paperwork than when they have reached at least three years in the position) and Hiruzen, for the life of him, refused to continue the paperworks he was unable to finish when he made Minato Hokage.

But other than the paperworks doubling, Minato was just outright disappointed with his students. Not Rin, but with the other two boys. And his disappointment showed with him basically de-ranking his own students that he taught with his skills to mere civilians.

His Sharingan was off as there was daylight and he could still see the girl clearly.

He checked on her from time to time. Ever since the incident in his reality around the same time as now, he became extra paranoid of everything.

And it wasn't bad to check every now and then since the nurses and med-nins literally banned his past self and Kakashi to visit.

His past self didn't accept how they just shooed them away but Kakashi calmed him down with a shoulder pat and a nod.

When the duo left the hospital that day to, as Obito heard, 'go visit the Uchiha clan head for answers to our eyes' weird happenings', he thought to himself that his life could've been like this if only someone had intervened in that rock fall.

Though without someone that has a similar skill set like him to do it, it would be disastrous and wouldn't make a difference or there would just be another body for the Zetsus to salvage. Though I doubt Madara would take in some random outsider that's not an Uchiha or someone that has a special bloodline if that actually were to happen.

He activated his Kamui and entered a dimension, as he transported from that dimension to another area in Konoha.

He continued to watch as his past self and Kakashi approached Fugaku's house in the district.

They smiled at each other encouragingly before his past self knocked on the door three times.

Truly...

Obito sighed again and rested his back against the tree while he sat on the branch.

This life could've been mine.
