Today is cause for much celebration. At last, after almost five years of work, I have finalised the production of the purification drug. The infection has a cure.
I have named the drug Afidene, a word whose origins I do not know but which came to me almost as a vision. In fact, I would not be surprised if the Shadows had gifted me with the name, as they have gifted humanity with the keys to its freedom. Regardless, I shall not question the path I am clearly being guided along.
Assisted by the Shadows, I have manufactured Afidene to be undetectable by current human technology. It is odourless and tasteless - though it is most effective when administered intravenously. Transparency could not be achieved; it is a faintly luminescent purple, similar to the colour of an Infected's eyes, but I do not believe this will be an obstacle.
Doses can be given as frequently as required. Initially, I shall administer it once a month, and then increase the dosage as necessary, as I am sure a tolerance will be built due to the fast metabolism of Infecteds. The symptoms mimic those of various psychiatric disorders, most notably schizophrenia, but are unaffected by all available antipsychotic and antidepressant medications. This will justify the admittance of not only the Afidene trial subject, but also all Infecteds in future, to the designated hospitals staffed by members of the Infected World Organisation.
Once administered, Afidene weakens the subject physically and induces nightmares, hallucinations and delusions, amongst other symptoms, to inflict the necessary psychological torture. After the physical and psychological breaking point has been reached, it will separate the Infected soul from the physical form, allowing for extraction.
Phase II is now complete. The next step is to locate a test subject for Phase III. Afidene must be tested in a lone subject to fully ascertain its effects so that any necessary adjustments can be made before mass production begins.
Humanity is one step closer to its purification.
