Ophelia sat there, under the willow tree, whistling to herself and twirling one of the bluebells that she had picked. She remembered when Alice and her first walked through the field, Alice picked a bluebell and tucked it behind her ear, she remembered how nervous she got around her in that moment. Of course looking back she could see that her feelings for Alice were always there since the first time they met, when they first locked eyes in the church that Sunday, to walking in the field. Ophelia tucked the bluebell behind her ear, just as Alice had done. She was starting to get better slowly, of course she still felt lonely but she was able to stay positive in between receiving Alice's letters. Ophelia had starting being a bit more honest in her letters to Alice and in turn, Alice opened up too, they both cared about each others happiness so much that they hid their own sadness. Ophelia was relieved that she wasn't the only one who had been feeling down, she didn't feel so alone after that, she felt understood.

Ophelia stayed on the hill for hours and it soon got dark, she lied down and stared at the stars, wondering if Alice was looking out at them too. She wished Alice was laying next to her so they could have a discussion about the meaning of life or some other nonsense, they could talk for years about that sort of thing.
She lay there still, listening to the soft wind howling and staring at the sky, the grass was soft and the air was perfect and for the first time in a while since being alone, she felt completely at peace with herself. She listened to the rustling of the willow tree, she didn't want to leave, she wasn't going home that night.
Ophelia had peacefully fallen asleep upon the hill, she wasn't worried about anything, she was exactly where she wanted to be both physically and emotionally. She wished Alice was here with her, but being on the hill was close enough.

Despite it being late, Alice wasn't at home in bed, instead she was happily looking out the window of her car, the perfect song playing in the background as she took in the scenery. She wasn't sure where they were going, her dad just wanted them to take a trip and of course she'd take any opportunity to spend time with him. They drove for hours, Alice soon falling asleep in the backseat until morning.
She woke up in a small hotel room, her dad sat across from her. "Where did we go?" She asked him tired and confused. Her dad smiled at her, "c'mon get dressed." She didn't question him, she just did as she was told. She didn't wear anything fancy, just some jeans and a jacket that she'd borrows from Ophelia, though it didn't smell like her anymore.
It was early morning, the sun was only just starting to rise so the sky was currently a beautiful orange colour. Ophelia had always loved the sky, she'd constantly comment on how pretty it was, she wished she was here.
Alice and her dad continued to walk through the town, Alice was still tired and still not entirely sure where she was. That was until she looked across the street and saw her old school...she was back. She looked up at her dad who just smiled, stepped to the side and stretched out his hand, signalling that she could go.
She instantly took of running. She ran and she ran with a wide smile stuck on her face. She ran until she reached her old house. She stopped to look at it for a moment, tears of joy forming in her eyes. "This isn't real." She whispered to herself. Suddenly she remembered what she was running for, she started running to the back of her house out onto that all familiar field of bluebells.

Ophelia awoke on the hill to and orange rising sun. She sat up, she had sat the side of the tree that wasn't facing Alice's house, seeing it made her miss her too much. She sat looking out at the field, closing her eyes briefly as the wind blew through her now short hair. "Philly!" She heard the faint voice of Alice as she kept her eyes closed, if she focused hard enough she could still hear her. "PHILLYYY!" Ophelia's eyes shot open, that voice was definitely getting closer. She quickly stood up and look out into the field. "Philly!" Of course, if it was Alice, she'd be behind her, the same direction her old house was. Part of her didn't want to turn around, her mind could be playing tricks, but the other half had hope and needed to see her. She rushed to the other side of the tree, and saw Alice far in the distance. Ophelia froze, she was back...she was back! "ALICE!" She yelled. Alice started getting closer and was almost at the bottom of the hill. Ophelia couldn't wait any longer, she started running down the hill towards her love. Alice ran towards the hill, there she was, Ophelia was there running towards her. Ophelia felt as if her feet weren't even touching the ground as she ran, as if she was flying. The wind blew, the flowers swayed, and the birds sang as they crashed into each other's arms and hugged like they'd never hugged before. The air was filled with their happy laughter as they held onto each other tightly, squeezing the oxygen out of each other's lungs.

They pulled away for a moment, still holding on to each others arms, staring into the others eyes. "You changed your hair!" Ophelia laughed. "You've changed yours." Alice replied before laughing and pulling her back into a hug again. They remained like that for what felt like forever, just holding each other, something they hadn't done in months. This time it was Ophelia who pulled away, not hesitating to speak a sentence she'd never said to her before.
"I love you." There, that's it, she'd said it, and she meant it. Alice didn't think it was possible to smile any wider until she said that. "I love you too." And she did, they both did and they finally said it out loud. Ophelia knew what she wanted to do next, she missed her chance months ago, she wasn't about to lose the chance now. Tears filled both of their eyes as Ophelia gently cupped Alice's face in her hands, softly wiping her fallen tears away with her thumb. They stared into each others eyes for a couple seconds, though it felt like an eternity before Ophelia leaned in and planted a soft kiss on her lips.
And In that moment, they knew they'd be forever.
