"So what do we do today?"
"We can do anything," Alice replied in an upbeat tone "anything at all."
"Well, what did you have in mind?" Ophelia asked grinning. Alice looked around for a moment before taking a breath as she had an idea, she turned back to Ophelia and asked if she wanted to go somewhere new to which She agreed. "Great! Come on, if we hurry we'll be right on time."
"Right on time for what?"
"You'll see, just come on." Alice said with a mischievous smile as she took off running. Ophelia ran after her, she didn't know where Alice was taking her but that didn't matter, she knew she was safe with her, Alice had a way of doing that, making you feel safe. They continued to run through fields until they reached a new hill, Ophelia followed close behind as Alice ran up it.

At the end of the hill was a steep drop, honestly Ophelia wasn't the best with heights but Alice didn't seem to mind as she walked right to the edge. Opposite the hill was a bridge with a train track, "Any minute now." Alice said as she pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket. A few seconds went by, then all of the sudden Ophelia heard the faint chugging sound of a train, Alice turned back and smiled at Ophelia, encouraging her to come closer to the edge. She tried to refuse but Alice took her hand anyway, she was scared, but holding Alice's hand made it alright and she didn't want to let go. The chugging of the train got louder and louder until it finally came into view, "See, what'd I tell ya! Right on time." Alice said happily as she raised her handkerchief and started waving it at the passengers on the train, Ophelia staring at her mesmerised as she did so. Alice was definitely an old soul at heart, she seemed like the type of person who insists on writing letters to you despite seeing you in person, just for the joy of writing them, she was evidently the type of person to wave at a train as it passed by. Ophelia admired her confidence, did she do this alone too? She thought, how does she not feel awkward or embarrassed? Ophelia was amazed, her anxiety would never let her do something as simple as wave at a train, she wished she could but it just wouldn't happen, anxiety is funny like that, it stops you from doing the most random things.

Ophelia didn't take her eyes off of Alice as she waved and smiled and giggled. The train soon passed and Alice spun around and laid down on the fresh, green grass. "Wasn't that fun?" She asked as Ophelia went and sat down next to her and nodded, "I come here everyday, the passengers are probably sick of seeing me." Alice laughed. Ophelia smiled at her before adding "I don't think anyone could be sick of seeing you, you're lovely." Alice looked up at Ophelia and smiled before promptly sitting up. "Lovely?" she added, "I love that word. lovely sounds like when something is better than any other nice word you know and you don't know what to call it, so you just stand there amazed, admiring it until the perfect word comes to mind...lovely." Alice smiled to herself. Ophelia couldn't look away from her, how could one person be so perfect?

The pair decided to walk back to the field behind Alice's house, and up to the hill to lay under the willow tree. They lay there in silence as they often did, both feeling content with themselves. This was usually the time they'd have deep conversations about life and death. "What do you think about soulmates?" Ophelia asked curiously "do you believe in them?"
"I feel like god made soulmates based on personality. Our personalities go perfectly like pieces in a puzzle. I think we're soulmates...we just both happen to be girls."
"Platonic soulmates...or more?" Ophelia asked kind of cautiously, not wanting to say the wrong thing and ruin something. "I think we are more than platonic soulmates." Alice smiled as she looked over at Ophelia who continued to look at the sky. "Do you think that's wrong?" She asked as she turned to face Alice who was still looking at her. Ophelia didn't know where that question came from, she'd never really expressed these haughty of hers out loud.
"Philly."
"Yeah?"
"I don't think this feeling could ever be wrong." Alice said softly as she smiled. Silence fell between them again as they both turned to look back at the sky until Alice spoke again.
"Philly?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think you love me...like that?"
"Love is a very strong word, so...I'm not sure."
"I'm pretty sure I love you.."
"Really?" She said smiling as she turned to look at Alice once again, she didn't know why she got so happy when Alice said that. "Yeah...really." Alice replied as she softly smiled to herself.
Ophelia smiled. "well, that sure is a strong feeling." She paused for a moment. "I've never felt this way and I'm not sure, and I want to be sure...I'll get back to you on that one." Ophelia said before smiling once again.
