I'm finally bringing the promised fluff in. Enjoy :D
"Jeongin, you can close your mouth now."
Stepping into Seungmin's house, Jeongin doubted such a feat was possible. "Y- y-, your- foyer is... bigger... than my entire house!"
Seungmin shifted around a bit uncomfortably at that comment. "Yeah... I don't even know why we need one. It's all for dramatics."
"Dramatics or not, it's beautiful." Jeongin never thought he'd ever be trying to take in the sights of a house.
"Come on, I'll show you around," Seungmin said, trying to stray away from the topic. "If you don't mind me asking... why don't you want to go home?"
"I... don't live in the safest place," Jeongin admitted, though he was sure Seungmin had figured that out on the way to the house.
Seungmin didn't say anything to that, only nodded. "So this is the dining room, the kitchen, the living room, the TV room..."
Jeongin felt like he was on a museum tour. The house shined; everything was clean and spacious. It was a wonder that no one ever got lost in this place.
Jeongin thought about voicing just that thought before he finally read the room. Seungmin was constantly looking down as he gave the tour and his voice often came out in murmurs, trying to skip over many details. It seemed like while Seungmin lived in luxury, he didn't seem very proud to show it. The reason was beyond Jeongin.
"Are your parents okay with you bringing a stranger over for the night?" Jeongin asked instead.
Seungmin let out a chuckle. "My parents? They're not even home. I could hold a freaking party in here and they wouldn't notice."
"Have you before!?" Jeongin asked with excitement.
At that point, Seungmin burst into full laughter. "To have a party, one must have friends! I've already failed on the first step!"
That really confused Jeongin. Living a life usually struggling for cash, Jeongin always assumed money made the world go round. People with money could have anything. So why was it that the boy who had plenty of it couldn't have friends?
"It's strange, isn't it?" Seungmin said, as if he had read Jeongin's mind. "Kids love showing up at school with brand new jackets and shoes and flex the money they have, but when someone has too much for their liking, they're quick to turn on them. Like, I'm sorry, I didn't exactly choose for my dad to be a big shot mayor, but here we are!"
Seungmin spoke with sarcasm but, as Jeongin noticed, a lot of frustration too. He was just as fed up as Jeongin was at being turned away like that.
"Yeah, it doesn't make sense," Jeongin agreed. "I didn't choose where I lived either."
Seungmin looked at Jeongin for a second and then sighed. "Sorry, I shouldn't be complaining about everything to you. I'm lucky, I know that. All of my problems are minuscule..."
Jeongin's heart sunk. "No!" he heard himself blurt out, bringing Seungmin's full attention.
"It's good to complain sometimes," Jeongin continued. "Especially when you aren't able to talk to anyone else. What's worse is treating your struggles like nothing. You shouldn't be devaluing what you go through because of the problems other people have, because the struggle for each individual is the same. We're not that different, both of us... want the same thing. We want to be treated as equals." Jeongin realized what that truly meant to him. "That means you can talk about your problems to me like you can with any other individual. Vice versa too. That's how we'll treat each other the same."
