"We're going to check the building for survivors."

"Let me come too!" Felix immediately said, trying not to be terrified by the word survivors.

"Best not. The fire isn't fully out and it's still dangerous-"

"Please!" It took everything not to run straight into the building the minute the entrance was free, the worry for Jisung and Minho being too much for Felix to contain.

A sigh. "You need to stay with us at all times."

Felix barely got a glimpse of the charred entrance before a hand went over his eyes. "Kid, you don't want to see this. Close your eyes and follow my hand carefully."

So Felix did, involuntarily shivering at what his surroundings could be. He heard the firefighters whispering amongst themselves and each word built up even more fear for his friends.

     "Are they all dead?"

     "Can't even recognize the faces."

"The fire claimed these people past the point of no return."

     "Prepare the body bags."

Felix allowed himself to breathe again once they passed the first two floors and he was allowed to open his eyes.

The room still had residual smoke clouding up the room and the walls were already rotting and falling apart, but aside from that, nobody was here. Felix pushed aside desks, trying to navigate himself through the floor.

That was when he saw the slumped body of a boy at the corner of the room.

"JISUNG!" Felix ran over. Jisung's hair was drenched in sweat, mattered over his forehead, and cuts littered his arms from fallen debris. He didn't appear to be responding.

"Move aside! Let us see him." Felix backed away with a lump in his throat. Please let him be alive, oh god, PLEASE!

"We have a survivor! Prepare for evacuation quickly!"

His legs almost gave out. Felix leaned against the wall and sighed in relief, feeling like he could breathe again.

The sounds of people running to and from the room were interrupted by a series of coughs. "He's awake!"

Hearing that, Felix ran over again. "Jisung, can you hear me!?"

Jisung blinked multiple times, harsh and shallow breathing blocking his words. Then, "F- Felix?" He couldn't say anything more before he erupted into more violent fits of coughing.

"You've inhaled a lot of smoke. We need to get you out of here," the firefighter said.

"Wait-" Jisung's voice came out raspy, struggling to form the sentences. "Minho hyung- he's still up- there! He- got stabbed- help... him!"

Jisung's head slumped down, his hands clutching it. He looked in so much pain, Felix struggled to leave. But he had to make sure Minho was okay.

"Go," was what Jisung finally managed.

Felix got to his feet. The men attending Jisung sent him a nod, giving him permission to go ahead. "Yell for us when you find someone."

It hadn't been difficult. But unlike Jisung, Minho wasn't responding to anything. He was truly out cold but feeling how hot his forehead was, Felix wondered whether the pain was really only from injuries or if the nightmares had come back to claim Minho during the fire. He couldn't imagine how it must have been.
