Unexpected

Chapter 9

"SURPRISE!!!" Damian yelled,nearly making me jump out of my own skin. My eyes shot open, i looked around ,trying to adjust to the emerald green spots of light, and the people walking towards the entrance of a big opera theater that read "Blaisdell Building" and on the side of it,showed a big green ball of light with the words "WICKED" in white. Damian drove down a few isle ways then reversed into a parking stall near the entrance. We got out and walked up to the ticket booth, as soon as Damian gave the woman behind the glass our tickets,i leaned over and gave him a small hug,i looked down so he couldnt see me blushing

"Thank you, I cant believe im about to see a live musical...or I mean play..wait which is it?"

"Its both" Damian laughed

"Ohhh...I sooo knew that!"

The lady behind the window began talking and informing Damian what to do next. I turned and looked for Elena who was standing next to a long banner that had a woman in a black coat and pointed hat,but her skin was green next to her was another woman dressed in a white coat with pointed hat but her skin was normal.

I walked over and linked my arms into hers and waited

"You alright?"

I nodded and smiled,then let out a gentle squeal of excitement "yeah,im excited to see this play,you know ive never been to one,this is my first time!" I giggled.

Damian walked over "hey lets go in" he nodded towards the entrance and we both nodded in agreement. We walked in and the usher at the door stamped our hands with a green stamp that read "Welcome to the Emerald City". We walked in a little bit more and saw a big booth selling WICKED shirts, jackets, books, CD's, glasses,umbrellas,and all kinds of other products. Wow i thought,do they do this for all their plays?. Damian led us to the door that led to our seats, but Elena pulled me back

"Wait lets get something to snack on"

I nodded,come to think of it i was actually really hungry,all the excitement distracted my mind,i could feel my stomach grumble. I could smell the all the food.mmmmm!i want nachos,i hope they have some. We walked over to the concession stand and waited in line. I looked over at Elena,whos eyes were wondering around.

"You okay?"

"Yeah just surprised and shocked,like dang I never thought he had the kind of money for this,did you see his receipt?"

I shook my head no

"It was $1,050!which means it was like $350 for each of us!"

"Holy shit are you serious?!I know he doesn't make that much working at Bubba Gump as a dish washer" I said, wondering where he got the money to pay for these tickets.

We ordered our nachos and jalepeños then went to go find Damian. Oh my gosh!these seats are great!. We are on the bottom level, in the 25th row right in the middle,there is 50 rows on the bottom and 20 rows on the top level,each row sits 50 people,so you can imagine how crowded it would be in here in a little bit. I sat in between Damian and Elena as we waited a good half an hour for people to fill the rest of the seats and for the play to start. We talked a bit but i kept zoning out,wondering where Damian got that money . Maybe he saved up for- ugh, I shook my head. I should just stop and enjoy this. It is a once in a life time chance.

I checked my phone.it was 7:35 and lights in the theater began to dim down,people began clapping and cheering. An usher walked by a tapped my shoulder

"Im sorry,all electronics must be turned off until the intermission"

I nodded "okay,im sorry"

I held the power button down on my phone and the "slide to turn off" bar came on.i slid it and it turned off,i put my phone back into my purse. I grabbed my nachos and began eating them,I offered some to Damian as the play started.
