I woke up bright and early. Today we had a game, and I was ready.

I washed my face made my way down to the cafeteria for breakfast.  Although we were all tired from last night, everyone got ready on time and was preparing for today. Several were stretching and others were cleaning around the cafeteria.

"Breakfast's ready!" Horizon announced. We all lined up single-file and got our trays of breakfast. There was an empty table that needed to be occupied, so I filled that seat. I browsed my phone while I sat and ate.

"Did you sleep well?" Revenant greeted, making his late appearance as usual.

"Hi, Rev. I did! Did... you?" I asked, not sure if he had the ability to sleep.

"Yes. Dreamed about you."

"Oooooh, about what!" I propped my head on my hands.

"Of every way I could kill you."

"What was your favorite?" I batted my eyes playfully.

"Getting you alone and gutting you like a fish; while you scream and beg for your life."

"Sounds hot." I teased. Revenant sighed. Behind him, I saw Loba, Mirage, Wraith, and Pathfinder walking to us.

"Hey, friends! Do you mind if we sit here?" Pathfinder asked politely. Loba had already sat down, Mirage and Wraith standing beside her.

"Of course not! Come sit!" I smiled.

"Are you guys ready for today's game?" Wraith spoke up. This was one of the few times I've ever heard her speak.

"Definitely! I hope I'm with one of you guys." I smiled.

"Me too," Mirage said under his breath. I didn't want to bring attention to him, since he sounded like he didn't want to be heard. I just continued with my breakfast. Everyone else did the same, except the two robots. They sat there; Pathfinder tried to spark up a conversation but always got shot down by the murder-bot.

After breakfast, I did the second part of my morning routine; putting on my uniform and stretching. Once I completed that, I went back down to hear the teams for today get announced. I met up with my friends and eagerly waited.

"I won't be easy with you this time, skinsuit." Revenant crouched to me and whispered.

"Try me." I grinned at him. His eyes flared but stopped once the TVs that projected the teams flashed on.

Beside my Apex Legends picture was Revenant! And...

Mirage.

This was going to be a long game.

I reluctantly stood next to them. My heart raced, and not just because I was getting the pre-game jitters, it was because I knew that this squad did not mix well- and I'm not talking about synergy, I'm talking about... emotionally.

"Glad to be on your team, skinbag," Revenant said sarcastically.

"I'm not happy either. Just don't put (Y/N) in a bad situation. Throw me into the pit, I don't care. Just don't hurt her." Mirage spoke against Revenant.

"Heh. You think you're her protector? I don't think she finds much safety in your hands. You can't even find security in them yourself. Don't try to be something you're not, skinbag."

"Hey, stop being so-"

"Approaching drop zone. Prepare to jump. Three, two, one." The announcer interrupted me.

The platform which we stood on lowered us into the open air. Mirage was jumpmaster.

"Don't drop us somewhere stupid."
