{Content warning: Curse words!!}

Bullets flitted past our heads. Revenant and I ran behind Rampart's shields for cover.

"That fucking idiot!" Revenant yelled as he reloaded his weapon.

I sighed, agreeing with Revenant. "It's fine, we can make it work."

"I'll get Anita for what she did to me last time we met on the battlefield. You get Rampart."

"On it."

Revenant threw a grenade he had above our heads, making the two ladies scramble. I ran from cover and into the open plains, looking for Rampart.

"Where is she..." I thought to myself. I crouched behind an opened supply bin and continued examining the grounds.

I decided to use my ability.

"They got me. I'm down." I said in my best Bangalore voice. I looked around and waited to see if Rampart would be running over.

Just as I thought, I saw her run from her cover and in my direction. I steadied and aimed my weapon.

"Anita! Are you alright?" She called out.

"Got you," I said as my face met hers.

"Ah! Dammit!" Rampart screeched. She began shooting and bullets spread like wildfire. I thought I was prepared, but no. Rampart was ready for everything.

Not wanting to turn my back, I shot her with my EVA-8.

"Gah!" She yelped as I hit her shoulder. There was no sign of her stopping though, she continued shooting like a madman.

Rampart's Flatline pierced through my shield and soon my skin. It was painful, and we were fighting head-on. There was no time for me to pause and gain some health.

"Fuck!" My magazine was empty. I tried to reload it as fast as I could.

Plunk

It fell. I was screwed.

I left my clip there and dashed.

"Hey, where are you going!? I'm not done with you!" Rampart yelled as she followed me, also reloading.

I went inside one of the nearby buildings and reloaded all of my weapons as quietly as possible. I held my back against the cool metal door. It was quiet.

Too quiet.

"Found ya!" Rampart peered over at me on the other side of the door. I felt myself begin to falter as she rammed into the heavy door.

I pushed my back against it, my shoes beginning to screech on the floor.

"Not gonna budge, eh? Fine, have it your way!" The persistent legend darted off. I peeked through the window to see what she was doing.

I was too late.

!!!BOOM!!!

The door blew off its hinges, making me fly forward with force. Dazed and wounded, I crawled into cover. I slid against the wall as I tried to keep myself together.

"Give up now?" She stood over me, her barrel and I making eye contact.

"Not before I do." A familiar voice contended.

Revenant tossed his silencing device as bullets flew in Rampart's direction. Frozen like a deer caught in the headlights, Rampart already lost.

Revenant ran into the building, fearing nothing. Rampart was in panic, which tainted her battlefield skills.

She and I traded spots- she was the one helpless on the floor, and I was the one watching... although I was still dying out.

The simulacrum finished her off without a second thought. He ran to me, making sure that the coast was clear.

"R-Revenant..." I said in staggered breaths.

"You're going to be fine." Revenant comforted brashly as he revived me.

I sat myself up and was about to get on all fours to stand.

"Hey, don't do that." Revenant put out his metal hand toward me. I grabbed it but kept my gaze on the ground.

"C'mon let's go, we have no time to waste. One more skinbag is still out there." Revenant began running out of the building as soon as I stood up. Not wanting to get left behind, I followed quickly.

"Wait, what about Mirage?"

"He's fine."

"No, I'm not! Please hurry!" The defenseless legend pleaded.

"If you get him, you'll die."

"No you won't! Bangalore isn't even around!"

"That's what you think! You let your guard down so easily! Such a pathetic skinsuit! Just follow me, (Y/N). Don't listen to the guy that's dying."

"Well, I wouldn't be dying if you just took your head out of your ass and come over here."

"I'm not arguing with you anymore, skinbag." Revenant stood against a wall, putting his arm across my chest as he surveyed the area. My heart rate began to pick up the pace, but not because of the nervousness waiting for Bangalore.

As I looked out to the barren land, I could see Mirage, still laying behind a rock, not yet succumbing to his injuries.

I couldn't just watch him die.

"I'm sorry Revenant." I pushed his arm out of the way and sprinted to Mirage.

"Skinsuit!" Revenant called out.

"(Y/N)! You- you came!"

"Of course I did. You helped me, right?" I gave a small smile as I slid across the dirt. I crouched down to his level as I started getting the syringe ready.

Mirage chuckled, "Thank you." He put his hand on my cheek.

I was taken aback by this gesture. I flushed red and forgot what I was doing for a second.

"Skinsuit! Watch out!"

Before I was able to think, Bangalore got me right in the back of the head, instantly knocking me down. I laid helplessly next to Mirage.

"(Y/N)!" Revenant and Mirage yelled in unison.

"You're going to pay for that Anita."
