Chapter six

"This is me sir" I say about to open the car door
"Won't you tell me how much you're happy to have watched a movie with your handsome CEO" I hear his sly voice say.
I turn to look at him. "I can't remember asking to watch a movie with you" I drawl out airily stepping out of the car
"I didn't ask you to go out yet" he calls after me
I close the car door leaning to look at him from outside the car. "Good night sir, thank you for the ride" I say with a forced smile. I turn and walk into the compound. I smile when I hear his car drive away. I touch my cheeks, I just smiled and it's not forced. The movie wasn't bad and he doesn't in turn seem to be a bad person but why did he do what he did to me, what made him do that or what if he isn't really this cool, what if.....enough of the what ifs Lorraine, focus

I made the picking of Carmela brief. I walk to my apartment door with Carmela in my arms
"Lorraine" I hear a person call from the front porch, the voice sounds so familiar
"Leigh Anne?" I say in a questioning way to be sure. It's dark already so it's not so clear.
"Lorraine!" The voice sounds enthusiastic as the figure becomes clear. It's really Leigh Anne, my best friend from college. "How have you been" she says taking Carmela from me. I hug her but gently so it won't affect Carmela. I miss her and I need her the most now with all that's going on inside of me.
"You should know how it has been without me telling you" I say sobbing a bit in her shoulder
"I know dearie, you've been acting all tough the whole time when you're broken inside, I know" she says soothingly, patting my hair. "You know we don't want to suffocate your child".
I pull away composing myself. "You didn't tell me you were coming today"
"I know right, I wanted to surprise you and I did. My mom gave me the freedom to come cause she wants me to be with you knowing how it would be" she explains "you need to let me in now or I'd freeze to death here"
"Don't be so dramatic Leigh it's not even cold here" I roll my eyes unlocking the door.
"So I can tell it's a girl, what's her name" Leigh says studying Carmela's face in the living room
"Yh she's a girl, her name is Carmela" I tell her hanging my bag beside the door. I walk to the kitchen switching on the light. I open the fridge bringing out two cans of drink, I place them on the counter in no time Leigh joins me with Carmela in her arms. She sits on the stool and I sit on the other
"It must have been hard on you" she says looking at me trying to study my every reaction
I open my drink taking a long gulp. Leigh Anne and I have been besties long before college so if I'm not open to anyone I'm always open to her, I tell her the way it is. "Yes pretty hard, I had to push through. The nine months of carrying Carmela in me was hard, I felt terrible Leigh I had thought of getting rid of her" I say heaving a deep sigh
"Look at me Lorri"Leigh says
Yh I was avoiding her gaze since, I look up at her
"It's a good thing you didn't cause she's beautiful" she says smiling at Carmela
"So" she brightens up smiling cockily at me. "What's going on, I can see you're working now at where" she asks taking a gulp from her drink, she rocks Carmela gently
"Well I luckily and unluckily got a job at a gaming company" I say with a straight smile
"Hmm luckily should be because you love games and unluckily.... I can't seem to guess why" she rubs her chin thoughtfully
I press my lips together looking at her. "My boss is the reason I have Carmela"
She looks confused processing what I said then she widens her eyes. "What!" She exclaims. "I mean what a coincidence, it's like the type that happens in movies Lorri"
I let out a sharp breath. "I'm serious here"
"I'm just saying" she let out in surrender. "So how are you coping what did you make up your mind on"
I take another long gulp from my drink looking at her. "I decided to let it go I don't want to live with anger with me you know"
"Awwn it's good to see after this while my best friend grew some wisdom " she smirks at me
I slap her arm. She laughs rubbing the part I hit her. "Careful there, you'll hurt little Carmela". She says then she looks at me seriously. "But working with him isn't it also hard on you, working with the person who caused you pain. I don't want you getting hurt again"
I stop to think for a while. "As far as I can see I'm coping and it's just basically going to be work" I hope so tho
"Hmm" Leigh hums. "Then I'm okay with it"
"How's mom doing?" I decide to ask, by mom I mean her mom
"Oh she has been pretty worried about you Lorri. As soon as I finished my exam she said i should come over. She wanted to come but I told her I could handle it, you know how she gets"she says
I nod, I certainly know how her mom can be. Carmela let out her soft cries in Leigh's arms, seems like someone's hungry.
