Chapter 12

I sit on a couch in the living room of my apartment. Leigh Anne is just sitting opposite me helping herself with a chocolate bar, she looking at me with the stern look. By the time Derrick dropped me home, Carmela was already asleep and she still is.

"What's with the look Leigh, you didn't even give me the chocolate bar I asked for instead you're eating it and now you're making me feel like I'm a criminal being investigated" I fold my arms staring back at her.

She laughs dropping her straight look "it's really hard to put up with that expression" she says with her normal calm look "so you mean he told you about what he did to you" she asks

"Well yes but he still doesn't know it's me though" I say. Earlier when I got back she kept bugging me to tell her what happened and I filled her on everything.

"Well I won't talk to you on the part he doesn't know it's you cause you should know what to do" she plainly says which she's correct about I should tell him about Carmela.

She immediately brightens up " so let's get to the fun part" she winks at me "for him to tell you all that he must trust you really really trust you Lorri"

"Trust me?"

"Yes Lorri. So tell me do you like him? the way you talked of Sonia like you're jealous" she says

"What do you mean like him and jealous. I'm not jealous" I defend myself looking away

"Then you're glad they're going to be together" she concludes

Her statement sends pain to my heart, it hurts me to know they're going to be together. I'm I happy for them? Definitely not with this pain I'm feeling but does that mean I like him. Realization hits me, I've fallen for him I failed to keep my emotions in check but there's Sonia he can't like me back.

"I take your silence as a yes so you want them together"

"No no no" I quickly interject then I cover my mouth "I mean yes"

Leigh looks at me amused "you definitely like him Lorri. This is the first time you're having feelings for a guy I mean that 'like' feeling"

"But isn't it wrong, he's going to get married soon" I frown at the thought looking at my fingers on my laps. Leigh shifts forward looking at me

"Do you think he'd still get married to her when he knows he has a daughter with you" she says like she's a genius

"Well you never know he might..."

"Oh come on Lorraine" she cuts me off "I never knew you are this slow when it comes to romance" she frowns at me

I frown too "slow? I'm not slow when it comes to romance"

"Yh you're certainly not" she says airily with an eye roll

I look at the center table eyeing the empty chocolate bar wrappers on it. "I still want my chocolate bars"

She looks sheepishly at me. "You see the wrappers seems to be empty like meaning there are no chocolates in them"

"You mean you finished them all" i say through gritted teeth

"That's not how to put it" she slowly stands up from her seat. "They just seem to be in my stomach" she says with a shrug moving backwards slowly

"I see" I stand up too

"You shouldn't stand up you know there are still granola bars left"

"I'll sit down after I've gotten those chocolate out of your stomach!" I state chasing her

I walk into the gaming company expectantly wanting to see Derrick. I want to tell him about Carmela today, I'm nervous I don't know how his reaction would be like. Well it isn't my fault I have Carmela in the first place.

I sigh letting myself into Derrick's office, to my surprise Sonia is there but Derrick isn't. She turns to look at me as I close the door.

"We meet again" she says with her calm posture and fake sweet smile.

"Yes" I simply say

"As you should know, on Derrick's schedule he has a date with me" she states walking gracefully to me "that's if you were wondering why I'm here"

She's correct I was wondering, I also forgot to check Derrick's schedule for today. The door opens behind me and I turn to see Derrick in all his grace looking as charming as ever. His eyes meet mine studying my features I look away stepping aside

"What are you doing here" he demands his voice sounding husky at Sonia

"We have a date Derrick, I shouldn't be reminding you about this" Sonia say walking to him

His eyes falls on me briefly then he sharply looks at Sonia. "Alright but I must remind you, I go nowhere without my personal assistant" he says coolly

I look at Sonia, for the first time I catch a hint of anger and frustration in her expression then she masks it with her calm expression again

I turn back to Derrick quickly "I .. I can't go with you" I stutter why did I stutter

"It's your job" he simply says walking out of the office, Sonia walks past me following him. I sigh how am I going to tell him now.
