Buddy - Ray

The misty cold January air wasn't good enough to make me shiver.  Today marked the anniversary of the end of the Serpentine War and Ninjago was and still was very quiet.  With nothing around, everyone was living a very normal life and us ninja barely ever had any missions.

I was sitting down on a plain ordinary wooden bench around the park.  The usual grey clouds floating above weren't of interest and neither were the singy-songy birds.  Ninjago was at peace but change was needed to create a lively home.  Even journalists couldn't find anything special to say:

The truth is the truth, but how can we write what's untrue?

I was sitting on my own, on a park bench in Ninjago.

"Hey Ray," someone said from behind the bench.

I turned my head around.  It was George, drinking something but he had two cups.

"I brought you coffee," he said, placing the cup in my hands, "it might be a bit cold though."

"Don't worry about that," I warmed it up with my fire, "How did you know I was here?"

"I kinda followed ya."

"Oh, you invisible freak!" I laughed, "come and sit down."

He sat down beside me and we sipped our coffee together.

"Hey um, I also need to ask you somethin' if you don't mind," George started.

"Sure, what's it about?"

"My relationship with Lyn."

Ah, love.  The only thing that is believe to be unconditional.  No value.  Or perhaps more of an infinite value.  It's lively, all Ninjago needed.

"Lyn's been spendin' a lot of time with Blake lately.  Should I be worried?" George burst out.

"Well, you do still like her - "

"Of course I do!  She's the person I always think about.  I really don't wanna lose her, Ray, she's beautiful, she's funny and I've tried so hard but she's not leanin' on to me anymore.  She's lost my interest, I feel it.  I want this relationship to be right, Ray, because I truly love her.  I mean - what would you do if you were in my position?"

I bit my lip.  I was passing through the same experience.  Water girl was the one I loved, but she already has Will.

George shifted sideways, "Oh, sorry.  I forgot that you too were - "

It's ok..... Well, try to believe that everything will work out.  If she needs some space, give it.  Be the gentleman, George.  She'll then come back to you.  After all, we're suppose to be ready for anything and give our women all they need.  Trust me.  And the truth will rise again."

"Hm, you're right.  Thank you for always being there for me and knowing what to say, buddy," George said.

"Aw, thanks - "

But I couldn't finish my sentence as a woman's scream both echoed around our ears.  And a bang. Nobody noticed, just us, from the little bench in Ninjago.
