"You really like her, don't you?" George said.
We had to stop our training early, as it started to rain. Julius was reading, Wu and Garms (yes, he doesn't mind us calling him that) were cooking, Lyn and Maya were playing Battleship and George and I were on the couch, watching TV. There wasn't much going on, we preferred it if we were playing video games. But we couldn't afford any, even with both of our businesses.
"Of course, she's the most beautiful lady I've ever seen," I said, taking my eyes off the TV to look at her.
"Really Ray, don't you think Lyn's the better lookin' one?" George asked as he peered over to glance at Lyn.
"Sure, but if I had to pick one from the two, I'd pick Maya."
"Ok then, leave mini lynny for me."
"I don't think she'd like you calling that in her face."
"Well, I'm sure Maya won't like being called Water girl either."
George and I stared into each other's eyes and laughed.
"You seriously need to pick your names more carefully," I said, my eyes turning to Water girl, "I mean - what names were you going to choose for your children?"
"I don't know, maybe Bash... Smash... or probably even Ash," George said enthusiastically, looking back at Lyn again, "Nothing classic though, and definitely not George Jr. What would you - "
"I - I think - If I marry Water girl - "
"Don't get your hopes up, she's already lovin' someone called Will. You've gotta work harder to notice you, let alone marry you."
"Nice joke, George - "
"No, really - "
"Dinner's ready," someone shouted.
We all stood up and walked to the table, apart from one.
"Where are you going, Maya?" Wu asked.
"I'm off to dinner with Will."
"In this rain?"
"Yes - there's nothing to worry about."
I watched Water girl rush to the door, slam it behind her and run down the mountain to meet Will. George was right. But I really loved her. I stared into the emptiness, the rain pouring, hoping she'd turn back. But she wasn't there anymore. Gone.
