Y/N POV

I blinked, not quite sure if I heard her correctly. "Huh?" I asked, dumbly.

"Ash said she and Ali are tight on space, and I don't want you to feel cramped in, so if you'd like, you can stay with me. You've been to my house, Y/n, you know it's got plenty of room." The smile on the blond's face was already causing butterflies in my stomach, but the mischievous glint in her sparkling blue eyes was what really got to me.

Something about the way she spoke intrigued me in a way I'm sure would have my ass handed to me by Joe if he were here. Speaking of Joe, wouldn't he find it weird that his girlfriend is inviting someone she's known for a month to live with her? As far as I knew, they weren't living together.

Never mind the fact that it's me.

I mean if he were to find out, it could be a fucking disaster. I had already made the promise to myself to stay away from Taylor, especially since the last thing I wanted to deal with was more drama from Joe, so this whole moving in thing- as amazing as it sounds- definitely wasn't a good idea.

"Um..." I started, not quite sure what to say.

I knew I needed to tell her no thanks, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

The temptation was too hard to resist, even if it meant getting jumped by her boyfriend.

"Okay. Yeah. Sure. Thank you." I finally answered, trying to ignore the burning blush on my cheeks.

Next to me, Tobin and Ash stifled knowing laughs and I quickly shot them glares.

Taylor grinned. "Great. We can work out the details a bit later, but I'm glad you're accepting my offer. I think it'll be fun."

I forced a smile, silently cursing myself for having literally zero self control. "Me too."

God, what have I gotten myself into?

-----------------------------------------

"YOU'RE WHAT!?" Elliot practically yelled into the phone, making me wince.

"Dude! Stop shouting!" I hissed.

"Sorry, sorry. But jesus christ Y/n, what happened to getting over her? I thought you and Megan were gonna be a thing?"

I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. "I mean she wants to be a thing I think, but I don't want to. I had a good night with her, and she's a nice person and all, but El, my heart just isn't in it. I don't want to lead her on or lie to her, you know? Besides, it's not right for me to use Megan just to get over Taylor."

"I get that, and you're right. That was a lapse of judgement on my part."

"And mine."

"Okay, so you're done with Megan, and you're next step is to go live with the woman you're trying to stop having feelings for?"

I rolled my eyes at his sarcastic, teasing tone, but I knew he was right, it definitely hadn't been a good choice to accept Taylor's offer. "I know, I know. I just...I couldn't say no. You try telling Taylor Swift you don't wanna live with her!"

"Point taken. But dude, you gotta figure out how to get your own place, and fast, because if Joe finds out, he's gonna come for you. That dude is fucking crazy man."

I was about to respond, but the door next to me opened, and Kelley poked her head outside. "Yo, Y/n, you gonna watch the movie with us?"

I nodded. "Yeah, just gimme a sec."

The defender nodded then went back inside.

"I gotta go, El, but I'll talk to you later?"

"For sure. I'm wrapping things up with press so I'll be free the next few days if you wanna hang out."

"Definitely. Night man."

"See ya."

I hung up and slipped my phone back into my pocket with a sigh, feeling just as confused and annoyed with myself as I had before our conversation. Taking one last look at the gorgeous back lounge/pool area, I went back into the hotel lobby where my friends were waiting.

They were all too invested in their conversation to notice me, but of course Taylor was the only one who wasn't, meeting my eyes right away with an inquisitive, worried expression on her face. She looked as though she wanted to talk to me, but before she could, the conversation ended and everyone turned to me.

"You ready, Y/n?" Tobin asked.

"Yeah. What movie you guys wanna watch?"

"Ash and I were outvoted, so it seems as though we're going with The Secret Life of Pets."

I choked on my laugh. "Seriously? What did you guys propose?"

"Mad Max." Ash said, rolling her eyes.

"Bro, why can't we watch that?" I asked, whining.

"Because we want to watch talking animals, not a bunch of crazy people kill each other." Christen explained as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Next to me, Tobs shook her head. "Just go with it."

"Pet's it is I guess."

------------------------------

As if things couldn't get any worse, I ended up sitting next to Taylor while we watched the movie, the two of us sitting with our backs against the headboard of Kelley's bed. Tobin and Christen laid in front of us, heads propped up on pillows, while everyone else was either on Alex's bed or the floor.

I was paying zero attention to the movie, focusing more on keeping as much distance between Taylor and I as possible without drawing attention to myself. Unfortunately for me, the bed wasn't exactly huge, and I could only scoot so far away before one of my asscheeks was hanging off the bed.

"Y/n!" Taylor hissed, humor evident in her voice. "Stop moving! You keep shaking the bed!"

"Sorry I can't help it! I'm terrible at staying still, and I can't find a comfortable spot." The last part was a lie, but I wasn't about to tell her the truth.

"Why don't you just sit closer to me, that way you're not falling off the bed?" She whispered, and I swear my heart skipped a beat.

She wanted me to sit closer to her?

"Are you sure? I don't wanna make you uncomfortable." I said, nervous about overstepping boundaries.

Taylor smile. "Of course I'm sure, Honey. And you're not making me uncomfortable. In fact I'd be more comfortable knowing you're not gonna tumble off the edge. C'mere."

Fuck, every time she called me a name like that I could physically feel myself melt.

With a mix of hidden excitement, hesitation, and anxiousness, I shifted closer to her, closing the gap between us. I had expected to just sit shoulder to shoulder with her, but to my surprise, Taylor pulled me even closer, practically wrapping her arms around me and laying my head against her chest.

I was thankful it was dark because otherwise she'd see my blush.

"This okay?" She asked softly.

I nodded silently, allowing myself to relax into her embrace. Soon the feeling of her steady breath, warm body, and her fingers gently running through my hair became too much, and my eyelids fell closed.

I drifted off to sleep with a smile on my face.
