"Meredith" Lara gasped

Meredith just cried as she laid down the stairs

"Meredith, does anything hurt?" Lara asked concerned

"My- my- my arm" Meredith sobbed and pushed herself up but got dizzy

"Woahh" Lara gasped as she stabilized Meredith "Let's call an ambulance, okay?"

Meredith shook her head "Mommy will be mad" She whispered

Lara was doubting this for a minute but decided to call anyway. It didn't take long before the emergency team arrived and placed Meredith onto the stretcher before loading her in. The little girl was extremely shy and quiet, even Lara's tries to make Meredith smile didn't work as it was clear Meredith was scared for what was about to happen with her mom

"Meredith Grey, 6 year old, fell down the stairs and complained about pain in her arm and was dizzy" The paramedic announced as they loaded Meredith's stretcher out of the ambulance

"I want scans of her head and her arm!" Richard yelled to another doctor, this one was wearing light blue scrubs, before turning his attention to Meredith "hey, sweetie. You're gonna be fine" Richard smiled and squeezed Meredith's tiny hand. Meredith nodded in response while Lara was following

Meredith was brought to her own room after the scans and she was dozing off when the door flew open

"Meredith! I told you to behave!" Ellis yelled

Meredith's eyes flew open and she jumped up, causing her to cry out in pain

"Oh, stop that.." Ellis rolled her eyes

"Sorry mommy" Meredith whispered

"Dr Grey, she really wasn't behaving bad, she just-" Lara quietly said

"Excuse me? You're saying I'm wrong?" Ellis snapped "you're fired"

Meredith's eyes flew open and more tears were streaming down her face "Lara" She whispered

"I'm sorry little one.." Lara sighed and kissed the top of Meredith's head and was heading to the door where Ellis was standing until Meredith's body started seizing

"Meredith, this isn't time for jokes" Ellis said sternly but it became clear that Meredith wasn't faking this. Ellis went into doctor mode and helped Meredith through it as other nurses and doctors ran in

"Ellis?" Richard asked

"Take over" Ellis said and stepped away "Page me if you have the results" Her voice sounded ice cold

Richard watched her walk out of the room once he took over and held the little girl in his arms

"Where are her scans, goddamnit?!" He yelled

"On it!" The intern from earlier responded and ran out of the room as Meredith regained consciousness

"Hey, little one" Lara smiled as she wiped away her tears

"What happened?" Meredith quietly asked, feeling absolutely exhausted

"You had a seizure, Meredith" Richard jumped in

"Richard, hi" Meredith smiled as her eyes drooped

"Take a nap, sweetie. I'm gonna check on your results, okay?" Richard whispered

"Can Lara stay?" She vulnerably asked

"I'm staying, don't worry" Lara said as brushed her fingers through Meredith's hair

"Kay" Meredith muttered and fell asleep

...

"Meredith, wake up" Lara gently shook her awake

"Hmm.. L-ara"'Meredith groaned

"Meredith.." Richard sighed. Meredith could feel the tension in the room and grabbed Lara's hand who started to tear up

"We paged your mom and then we'll need to discuss some things, okay?" Richard said, trying to hide the fear in his voice

"Kay" She quietly responded

"Should we play with your doll while we wait?" Lara suggested to give Meredith some comfort but she only shrugged

Lara and Meredith played a bit with the doll but Ellis never came. Richard left the room and went to find Ellis

"Where's Doctor Grey?" He asked a nurse

"She just started surgery in OR2, doctor Webber"

"Thank you" he said and ran off to the OR. He quickly scrubbed in and entered the OR

"Ellis, we need to talk about Meredith's condition"

"Dr Webber, I'm busy right now. Can't it wait?" She snapped

"No, it can't wait. We already paged Dr Robbins and Dr Shepherd" Richard said sternly

"Why would you page Dr Shepherd for Meredith?" She finally looked up

All the nurses knew what this meant

"Richard, why would she need an oncologist?" Ellis asked again

"She has a mass in her brain, Ellis. It doesn't look good" Richard said

"I need to finish this first" Ellis said and continued working on her patient while the nurses were looking at each other

Richard sighed and left the room. He made his way back to Meredith and took a seat

"Where's mommy?" Meredith asked as she looked at the doorway

"She's in surgery. She'll come later" He replied

Once he saw Christopher and Arizona coming towards the room, he walked up to them

"Her mother is in surgery" Richard sighed

"Can't we page someone to take over? Dr Jefferson is available I think" Christopher said

"You don't know Ellis Grey. I told her I paged you and Dr Robbins so she knows.. she knows about the cancer" Richard sighed

Christopher looked shocked. Of course he knew she was the ice queen but he never expected her to be this cold towards her kids. He could never imagine taking surgery over one of his kids

"What do we do now?" Arizona asked, feeling empathy for the little girl in the room

"Wait, I think.." Richard sighed "I can page you once she's here"

"Dr Webber, it's really important that we start as soon as possible" Christopher said but before he finished his sentence, alarms came out of Meredith's room

"What's happening" Lara cried out while Meredith had another seizure

"She's having another seizure, out of the room, now" Richard said as he and the other two doctors ran in and led Meredith through the seizure

Once the seizure was over, Meredith woke up again but was soothed with Arizona's soft words "Go take a nap sweetie, we'll stay here with you"

Meredith nodded and drifted off to sleep after being exhausted because of the seizure

"We need to treat her as soon as possible" Christopher said "I don't want her to have neurological problems"

"Page Nelson, I want him on this case too" Arizona said
