"What's happening?" Christopher asked as he entered Meredith's room after he was paged

"She's been awake for 10 minutes and she hasn't stopped crying ever since. She's having a terrible headache and we gave the maximum dose of painkillers" Arizona said

"Page Ellis Grey 911" Christopher said sternly

"What are you doing?" Richard asked

"Making sure she'll be on time to make the right decision for her daughter." Christopher said sternly

They waited a couple of minutes until they saw Ellis entering the room. Meredith's cries turned into whimpers

"Why was I paged here? Didn't I tell you I would come after surgery" Ellis said with a frown

"Dr Grey, your daughter has had 2 seizures today, we took her for scans and we discovered a mass. This brave girl is gonna fight, right Meredith?" Christopher asked and Meredith nodded even though she didn't understand what was happening "But before she can fight this battle we need a treatment plan and to start that, we need your agreement" Christopher said, wanting to smash Ellis in the face

"Do whatever you have to do and page me when her treatment starts" Ellis said and turned around. Deep down she was lost and felt bad for her little girl but she couldn't show that. She couldn't be that doctor with the sick child. She couldn't be the doctor with short surgeries in case something came up. She was the Harper Avery award winning Ellis Grey who did long surgeries and wanted to break the hospital record

"You're not gonna stay?" Christopher asked shocked

"I have another surgery in an hour" Ellis said and left the room

"Mommy?" Meredith's barely conscious form whispered

"She'll be back, Meredith. We need to have a talk first" Christopher said

Meredith frowned and squeezed Lara's hand tighter

"Meredith, remember we took those pictures of your head?" Arizona asked but Meredith shook her head no. At this answer, Christopher frowned. "We found a tumor in your brain. You have brain cancer"

"Is that what mommy cuts away?" Meredith quietly asked

"That's true because tumors don't belong in our body so we need to use medicine or do surgery so it goes away, do you understand? She continues

"I think so" Meredith nodded

"But your tumor is a bit too big and we need to give you chemo first. It's medicine that will go into your body through an IV" Arizona explained as Meredith slowly nodded "But the chemo will make you very sick, you'll need a lot of strength so you'll sleep a lot" Arizona said, letting out the brutal reality but still trying to be as honest as possible

"Meredith's eyes widened in fear "Do I need to stay here?" She asked

"Yes sweetie, at least until the tumor is a bit smaller and then we can do surgery"

Meredith's eyes filled with tears again

"Meredith, I really need to go now, I have school. Will you be okay," Lara asked as she nervously checked her watch

"I'm fine" Meredith whispered

Lara looked at the three doctors, feeling bad for leaving the little girl all by herself

"I'll stay with her" Richard said

"Thank you. Here's my phone number, could you call me in case something is wrong?"

"Of course" Richard smiled

"Bye Meredith" Lara said and gave Meredith a hug before running off

"Bye" Meredith whispered once Lara was out of the room

"We should get started with the chemo as fast as possible. I'm gonna send in some very kind nurses who will attach you to an IV and then I'll be back, okay?"

Meredith slowly nodded "Will it hurt?" She asked

"It will hurt but we're here, okay? Someone will always be here to keep you company" Richard spoke up

Christopher left Meredith's room and knew who he was heading for. He found his wife at the desk of the nurses station of the pediatric unit

"Honey?"

"Hey, oh-" Carolyn gasped, seeing her husband all broken inside "Not Dr Grey's daughter, right?"

"Yeah.. She doesn't even wanna be with her daughter. I'm about to page her but could you hook up her daughter to an IV and wait until I'm there? This poor girl has no one who's taking care of her. Her babysit was the only one who seemed to be concerned but she had to go back to school" Christopher's hand brushed through his own hair

"I'll go prep her" Carolyn said with an appoletical expression "Afterwards I have to get the kids from school

Christopher nodded in response "I'll go find Dr grey"

Christopher found Ellis, of course scrubbing out from a surgery

"Your daughter is getting prepped for chemo" Christopher announced

"Do I need to be there?" Ellis asked

"Maybe not the entire time but I think she should feel better when you're around" He frowned

"Better? Well let's go check on her then" Ellis said and walked in the front, Christopher close behind

"Mommy" Meredith smiled

"Okay, Meredith. Carolyn here is gonna insert the IV so we can start, ready?" Christopher asked

Meredith nodded in response

Carolyn wanted to put in the needle but Meredith pulled away "I'm scared" She whispered

"Meredith, don't act like a baby" Ellis rolled her eyes

This made Carolyn's blood boil "No worries, sweetie. It's gonna be quick and it won't hurt much" Carolyn whispered and hooked up the IV. Meredith's eyes pooled with tears and once Carolyn was done, she brushed her fingers through Meredith's hair

"Meredith, will you be okay?" Ellis asked

"Can't you stay?" Meredith whispered

"Meredith, you learned to speak up, to speak loud and clear. Now please repeat

"Will you stay, please?" Meredith repeated, this time louder

"I have work to do, Meredith. This whole treatment will cost money and I need to pay those bills" Ellis stated before standing up "Can you send a nurse to update me?"

Richard nodded and followed Ellis outside. Once Ellis was out of the room, Meredith's tears started streaming down her face "Mommy doesn't love me" She whispered ut clenched her head "My head really hurts"

"I'm so sorry sweetie" Carolyn frowned as tears pooled in her eyes as well. She cuddled the little girl close in her arms as the chemo started dripping into Meredith's body

Christopher joined them on the bed and grabbed Carolyn's hand, knowing it hurt her to see a kid this sad and unhappy

"Take a nap. I'm gonna make sure someone will stay here" Christopher said

Meredith nodded and Carolyn helped her lay down as she fixed the wires attached to Meredith
