I opened my eyes to see a sun lit room. I was lying on a soft blanket which surprised me.
I stood and realised I was still in my bird form. I shook out my feathers and looked around the room properly.
There was a massive bed against one wall, a balcony showed the outside world and a desk with a mirror above it stood against the opposite wall to the bed. I was on a small table, a blanket folded up beneath me.
I cautiously walked forwards; I didn't meet any barriers, so I stretched out my wings by doing a couple of laps of the room.
I was just about to figure out a way to escape when Feyre and Rhysand walked into the room.
I landed on top of one of the bed posts.
"And it's gone," Feyre sighed.
"It's in here somewhere, the room was sealed." Rhysand told her, placing an arm around her shoulders.
It was pretty easy to spot me on my perch but there weren't any hiding spots in this room other than under the bed and I couldn't get there easily.
"We aren't going to hurt you little bird," Feyre said gently, holding her hand out.
I didn't move, I just looked at her, wanting to leave, go back to my tower, isolation was better than this hell.
"Why are you so scared us, is it because Helion told me to go into your head?" Rhysand asked.
I nodded my head, a little sheepish.
"I have not and will not go into your head, that is a promise, will you come down now?" He told me and he looked sincere.
I considered his words for a bit before flying down to Feyre's hand. She cupped it slightly to allow me better balance.
"The rest of our court would like to meet you," Feyre said gently as she carried me through a door.
There was a sitting room on the other side and four other people were sat there. Two males with large bat like wings that I really wanted to try out and two females, one with short black hair and silver eyes and the other had golden blonde hair and deep brown eyes, she was stunning.
I stayed in Feyre's cupped hands as she set them in her lap. I didn't want to go back to my fae body yet, that body was broken, under fed, bruised, I hated it, but this body let me be free, the wounds didn't transfer across.
"Why are we talking to a bird again?" One of the winged males asked.
"Not a bird Cassian, a shape shifter," Feyre said.
"As I don't know your name, I'm calling you little bird," Cassian replied.
Rhysand shook his head, laughing slightly.
"If I connect our minds, will you tell me your name?" He asked me.
I thought about it for a bit, as long as he didn't know who I was then I should be safe, I nodded.
'What is your name?' His voice spoke into my mind.
'Odette,' I said quietly, and I felt him pull out.
"Her name is Odette," he told the group.
"Odette, meet Cassian, Azriel, Amren and Mor, our court," Feyre said as she pointed to each person.
I tweeted a hello, knowing they couldn't hear me, but I hoped they got the message.
"I like her," Mor decided.
I felt a little mischievous all of a sudden, so I flew over to her, landing on her shoulder. I felt her stiffen a little before she relaxed, reaching one finger up to stroke the feathers on the top of my head.
"Odette, we do have some questions for you, it is obvious you don't want to shift back into your fae form so all you have to do is nod or shake your head, ok?" Rhysand asked me, I nodded.
"Ok, first question, were you asked to spy on the High Lords meeting?" He asked.
I shook my head, my father only told me he wanted me to watch, not spy. Rhys shared a look with Feyre.
"Second, did you know anyone in the meeting?" She asked, I was a little confused, did she mean personally or know of them?
I let out a small sigh. Flying off Mor's shoulder and landing on the floor. I allowed my body to go back to its fae form.
I rose from my crouch on the floor, wincing at the bruises and cuts still healing. Everyone was staring at me in shock.
I rubbed at my arm, looking at the floor. I had a rather large purple bruise on my right forearm, and I covered it with a hand, I couldn't cover my black eye, but they had already seen it.
Someone stopped in front of me and hooked their finger under my chin, lifting my head. I met Rhysand's eyes, and he looked concerned and angry.
"You're hurt," he said gently.
I pulled my head away from him and he let me go. I took a step backwards, wishing I could take the shift back.
Mor pushed Rhysand out of the way and took my hand, setting me on the sofa next to her. Her hands glowed slightly, and she wrapped them around my arm.
My panic flared and I tried to pull away from her, but she just gripped me a little tighter. When she removed her hands, the bruise was gone. She did the same for my face.
Once she had finished the wounds she could see, she sent her light over my whole body, seeking out any other bruises and closing the occasional cut.
My short simple dress didn't cover much of my body, stopping at my knees and the sleeves barely covering my shoulders but my torso was his favourite punching bag, so she had her work cut out.
Once the glowing had faded, I felt so much better. I could breathe without being in pain.
"Odette, why did you shift back?" Feyre asked me.
"Answering your questions as a bird was a little hard," I admitted.
"Well now I have a whole lot more questions," she said, frowning.
I looked at my lap, my father was definitely going to kill me.
"Who did that to you?" Rhysand asked.
"My father," I told him, not looking up.
"Who is your father?" Feyre asked.
"I can't say, Clara said if you found out you would kill me," I whispered.
"Who is Clara?" Feyre asked, looking confused.
"My best friend, and the only person who knows of my existence." I said, blushing a little.
"We aren't going to kill you just because of who your parents are," Rhysand told me.
"Tamlin, my father is Tamlin," I breathed, screw the consequences
Feyre's eyes darkened, crap.
"How old are you?" Rhysand asked me.
"I turned eighteen two days ago, or maybe three, I'm not sure," I admitted.
"Ok, I have so many questions right now, but we are expected in the meeting." Mor cut in.
I wordlessly turned into the small bird again and flew to her shoulder, I didn't know why but she made me feel safe.
