Chapter fourteen

Dani's point of view

Tonight was the night of the VMAs. I was in Kianas room, getting my makeup done by Indie. "So are you nervous going out in public with Rook again?" Kiana asked. "A little" I said. "But it's mainly just because I'm worried about the fan's reactions given how messy things got online but other than that I'm okay with it" I added.

"Oh yeah, his little fling or whatever she was went online and tried to shit on you, didn't she?" Indie asked. "Yeah and obviously my fans stuck up for me but they started to send hate to Rook for not stopping her or even trying to defend me, then Kiana got involved and it just escalated and escalated" I said.

"It was messy to say the least, I can't imagine how it was to be involved" Indie said. "Why did she hate you?" She asked. "I actually have no idea. She's just hated me from the get go" I said. Once Indie finished my makeup, I made my way back to Rook and I's room to get dressed.

"You're looking handsome" I said, walking into the room. "Thanks babe" He said, kissing me. "I'm almost ready, I just have to get dressed" I said. "I'm meeting the boys for a drink before the show anyways, I'll meet you there" He said. "Yeah, no problem" I said as he left.

I got dressed and made my way to Kianas room to leave for the red carpet. "Where's Rook?" Kiana asked, opening the door. "He went for a drink with the guys" I said as we walked towards Kells and Megan's hotel room. "You both look so good" I grinned as Kells answered the door.

"Thanks babe" Megan smiled. "Y'all ready?" He asked. The four of us made our way out to the limo and drove to the VMAs. Just as we arrived, I got a text from Rook telling me he was gonna meet me inside. Kiana and I walked the red carpet together and posed for pictures.

After pictures and interviews, I made my way to the bar to get a drink and seen Rook. Once he noticed me, he made his way over. "You look gorgeous tonight" He said, kissing my cheek. "Thank you" I smiled as the bartender gave me my drink. "Are you mad at me or something?" He asked as we made our way to our seats.

"What? No, of course not" I said. I wasn't mad at him but I was a little bit annoyed because I wanted to walk the red carpet with him. "I know you are, and I'm sorry for leaving you to walk the red carpet alone" He said. "I had Ki, it's okay" I said, taking his hand in mine.

"I know but we were planning on walking it together with Kells and Megan and I left you" He said. "Truth be told, I was nervous so the boys and I went for a few drinks and one thing led to another, we ended up staying longer than planned" He added.

"Why were you nervous?" I asked, looking at him. "Because it was gonna be our first public appearance together since before we broke up and I didn't know how your fans would react, especially after everything that happened with our breakup" He said.

Rook and I still hadn't gone public with our relationship yet so tonight was the night we were planning on telling everyone. "You could've just told me that" I said. "I know, I should've been honest with you and I'm sorry for that" He said, kissing my cheek.

"It's okay, don't worry about it" I said, kissing him. "You're here now, that's all that matters" I added. "I promise I'll make it up to you" He said. "After sound check tomorrow, I'll bring you for dinner" He added. "I can't tomorrow, I've the met gala then I'm leaving for tour" I said as the show started.

"We'll go away after tour finishes then, just me and you" He said. "Anywhere you want to go, just let me know and I'll bring you because it's the least I can do for breaking a promise" He added. "I love you" I smiled, looking at him.

"I love you too" He smiled, wrapping his arm around me and kissing my forehead. About forty minutes into the show, it was time for my performance and funnily enough, Kells was the one to introduce me. "It is such an honour to present this next performer. I've known her since she was like, four years old or something" He said.

"I've had the pleasure watching her grow and evolve, not only as a person but as an artist too. Ladies and gentlemen, performing her latest single Brick By Boring Brick, give it up for my little sis Dani" He added. After the performance I was presented with the VMA for artist of the year.

"Wow. What an award to be presented with. Thanks to my fans for your unconditional support, none of this would be possible without y'all" I said. "Thanks to my label and management for letting me be me and sing whatever the fuck I want to and express myself freely" I said.

"Thanks to my family, the EST gang; Kells, Megan, Ashleigh, Casie, Ashton, Baze, Slim, Kiana, my friends; Travis, Indie, ModSun, Pete, Dom, Jaden, Nessa, my insanely handsome boyfriend Rook; thank you for always being there when things got hard" I added.

"Thank you for inspiring me to do better and be the best version of myself. Y'all are the family I've always wanted but never had. You guys have had my back from day one and I'll be forever grateful for y'all. This award is just as much yours as it is mine, I love y'all more than life itself and I'd be nothing without y'all. EST for life" I added before making my way off stage.

"That's my fucking girl" I heard Rook shout as I made my way back to my seat. "You're such an idiot" I laughed, hugging him. "I'm so proud of you baby" He said, kissing my forehead before we sat back down. After a couple more performances it was time for Tommy Lee and I to announce the award for best alternative.

"Best alternative has been won by pioneers such as Nirvana, Wheezer, Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day. These band have ruled MTV for entire generations" Tommy Lee said. "This years nominees are pushing the genre in a whole era and carrying on the badass era" I said.

"Here are the nominees" We said. "And the winner for best alternative is" We said after the nominees were announced. "Machine Gun Kelly!" We said. "I'm so proud of you" I said, hugging him before making my way back to my seat. "Aye shout out to the emo kids for bringing it all back. Shout out to the EST gang" He said.

After the show, Rook and I met up with Kells, Megan, Travis and Kourtney. The six of us went out for dinner and some drinks before splitting up and going back to our hotel. "I'm so fucking proud of you" Rook said, picking me up and spinning me around once we got into our hotel room.

"Thank you" I laughed, kissing me as he put me back down. "I'm so in love with you" He said, resting his forehead on mine. "You're the best" I smiled, kissing him again. I made my way into the bathroom to change into my pyjamas and wipe my makeup off.

"So have you decided where I'm bringing you when we finish touring?" Rook asked as I got back into bed and cuddled into him. "We can go visit your family if you'd like" I said. "I'd love to but we can go visit them anytime. I'm sure my parents would love to see you again" He said.

"You've always wanted to go to Bora Bora, why don't we go there and then we can visit my parents when we get back?" He said, stroking my back. "I don't mind, that sounds good" I smiled, looking up at him. "Once I'm with you, I'll be happy with anything we do" I yawned.

"We'll talk about it tomorrow" He laughed, kissing my forehead. "Get some sleep" He added. "I barely seen you all day though, we haven't had a moment with just us" I pouted. "I know but I'll still be here when you wake up babe" He said.

"But I wanna talk to you" I whined, yawning again. "You're gonna be asleep within the next five minutes" He laughed, turning onto his side so that he was looking at me. "There's a lot that can be done in five minutes or less though" I said, pulling him in for a kiss.

"That's extremely insulting but I'll let it slide because it's you and you looked extremely sexy in your performance outfit tonight" He laughed, kissing me again. The kiss got more and more passionate and one thing lead to another.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" He asked, sitting up slightly and looking at me. "Positive handsome" I smiled, pulling him in and kissing him.
