It's so weird, sitting here and trying to get out all my thoughts in a way that you will understand. I mean, it's so weird that you give a shit about my thoughts. It's weird that I'm telling them to you! This whole situation is weird!

Sitting in my car after detention, I stare out the window and watch as Jay Alderson hits a home run and rounds the bases. The ball he hit goes bouncing into a wooded area behind the school, known amongst students as a good place to make some bad decisions, but known to the teachers to be a walking path. Perspective, right?

I get out of my car, armed with my water bottle, and lock it behind me. As I walk toward the entrance to the gravel path, I remember the last time I walked these steps.
