Pippin X Reader

Pippin and Y/N had been best friends ever since they first met one day in the Shire. They were both playing by the beautiful rolling river hidden by an outcrop of trees, when they met. Since then, they had barely spent a day apart. Pippin had been playing with his best friend Merry, when Y/N stumbled across them. But soon, Y/N began to like Pippin, more than friends. But did he feel the same??

Y/N's POV:

It was a hot, sunny day in the Shire, but when normal hobbits were in their garden's and relaxing, me, Merry and Pippin were robbing Farmer Maggot's fields. I had tried to convince my brother Sam to join in, he had only tried to keep me from going. Clearly, his attempts had failed, since I had snuck out the window of our hobbit hole, without him or our parents even realising, but oh well.

Suddenly, as we were running with our arms piled high with various vegetables that we had stolen, I ran into something solid. To my horror, it was my brother and his employer, Frodo Baggins. He hauled me up by the top of my hood, and stared me in the eyes. "What on earth are you doing out of your bedroom, young lady?" Sam demanded angrily. Before I could answer, I was cut off by Farmer Maggot's shouts.

"Get back here you thieving worms!" He called from not far behind me, and I gulped. Pippin grabbed my hand and we began running together. I blushed furiously, but hid it with my hair.

After mere minutes of running, Merry, Pippin, Frodo and I reached a clifftop. Everybody managed to stop themselves in time, but I continued running. Pippin quickly grabbed the back of my coat and pulled me back onto the ledge. But any relief was short lived, as my brother Sam tumbled into us all, sending us toppling over the edge.

We landed in a heap on the muddy floor. Everybody groaned and struggled out of the mass of bodies.

"Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!" Sam yelled at Merry and Pippin, but they took no notice.

"Ow..." Merry groaned, "I think I've broken something." I rushed over to help Merry, thinking he was referring to a broken bone, but he pulled out a carrot from under him. I rolled my eyes at him and stood up, offering my hand grudgingly to Merry, hauling him upwards.

"That was just a shortcut." Pippin reminded Frodo and Sam.

"To what?" Sam and Frodo both asked.

"Mushrooms!" Merry finished, sprinting over to a patch of wild fungus and picking it. Me and Pippin were in hot pursuit helping him fill sacks, and eventually Sam helped too. But Frodo did not help, instead he was staring down the road, looking disgruntled.

"Get off the road." Frodo said quietly, but I didn't hear him. "Get off the road!" He repeated loudly, pushing everybody hastily into a hollow under a tree.

A terrifying screech filled my ears, and everybody winced. From a hole in the hollow, I saw the hooves of a jet black horse pawing at the ground. An armoured man clambered down from it, and stood still for a while, before sweeping down to the ground and sticking its head into the hollow.

I stifled a gasp as I saw the things face. It did not have any features, there was just a deep darkness where it's head should be. It looked like something from my worst nightmare, but I was relieved when I realised that it could not see us, instead it seemed to be sniffing us out.

Pippin grabbed a sack of mushrooms from Merry and threw it far in the opposite direction. It let out a harrowing screech, and took off in the direction of where the sack landed.

"We need to leave the Shire!" Frodo pleaded, and we all nodded.

"Huckleberry Ferry!" Me and Pippin said in sync, and we smiled at each other, before running off in the direction of the terminal.
