Dare

19 part 2

Peter's POV

I sit by the chasm thinking about how everyone here has their happy ending and I'm just... there. I don't have any friends to talk to. They were dumb enough to get out of Dauntless. I don't get why people think I'm bad. But rumors spread a lot here and lately, they've been wrong. I stopped the whole... "evil" thing like 2 years ago. But if I want friends, I'm going to need to hang around the new initiates. I'd be able to do it, just not around tough guy Four and Little Miss Tris.

Elena's POV

As we finish lunch, Tris proposes a game of dare. They say it's fun but I don't know if it's a good idea. For all I know, I might have to play something called "7 minutes in heaven" and with what they told us about.... does not sound like heaven to me. I'm only going to be with Caroline, Bonnie, and Mak. They think it's going to be fun, so maybe I should just give it a chance. Mak goes with Four and Tris comes with us. I guess they needed some catching up to do.

"So, Tris. What's you're usual job?" I ask.

"Well, I'm a Dauntless leader and I kind of just make sure people are doing what they're supposed to be doing. But Max, the head of Dauntless, said that I was overlooking this year's initiates."

"So most of the time you sit back and watch? Just let everyone else do the work?" I ask. A part of me says that it's wrong to say that, but the other part of me says that I must interrogate her on such acts. It's hard to believe that she's from Abnegation.

"Not necessarily, but if you feel better thinking about it that way then sure." She replies.

"So for dare, do we need to drink alcohol?" Caroline asks nervously.

"Are you pregnant?" She asks with her eyebrows drawn high knowing that Caroline isn't.

"No." She mutters.

"Well, then I guess it's only Christina and I drinking apple cider."

My eyes practically pop out of my head when she says this. I knew her and Four were engaged, but I didn't know she was pregnant! What the hell is this?!

Tris's POV

Hehe. It's funny how this is working out. People get surprised, I start laughing. It's routine now, a routine that I'm very fond of.

We go to my apartment and hang out until Mak and Tobias come. They both have wild and scared looks.

"We need to go. Get a change of clothes we're going to the Factionless sector. It'll be safe there." Tobias says rushing to our room. When he comes out he has two pairs of shirts and pants. Tobias grabs my hand and we run to the trains with the girls on our heels. The train comes right on que. We jump on and the girls follow. When we sit down I think about what could be waiting for us in Factionless.

Then I suddenly remember about Evelyn. Tobias' mother will give us shelter there. I just hope that our running stops soon.
