The four of them looked up in a mix of horror and shock at the sound of the new voice. Standing at the entrance of the gazebo was Kakashi and Iruka. Itachi looked at the other three before bringing his gaze back to the pair.
Kakashi's grin grew and Iruka gave them a smile as well. "Of course I'll go along with your guys' plan! We'll start a revolution. A little army of demon-human hybrids." He chuckled to himself as he watched their eyes widen at his statement.
Naruto was the first to get over his shock and he loudly whooped, followed by Kyuubi. Itachi smirked at the two Nine-Tails. "I'm glad you're going to be on board with this plan. Half of the work would be coming up with a plan to convince you." The elder Uchiha commented to Kakashi.
Kakashi just shrugged.
Sasuke watched with a frown as the group began to celebrate. He still felt wary about the whole idea. Something just felt, a miss.
From his balcony, Fugaku watched with narrow eyes at the group who seemed to be excited about something or another.
As he was looking for Itachi at the party, a maid mentioned that the group left together, making their way to the garden.
Fugaku would never admit outloud, but he may be plagued with a tad bit of paranoia. Once discovering Itachi had the amaterasu sharingan, he felt one day his eldest son would overthrow him. Wanting to rule the kingdom for himself before Fugaku could pass it down when he was ready to. So he went to his bedroom, knowing from his balcony he had a clear view of the gardens.
He scanned each of them until his eyes stopped on Sasuke. His mouth twisted into a sinister smirk. Whatever they were up to, the weakness was clear. With a new feeling of determination, he turned and made his way back to the party.
The party ended well after dark, everyone now settling into their respective rooms. Kyuubi sighed to himself loudly as he threw his shirt onto the floor. He picked up his night shirt, and with another loud sigh, put it on over his head.
Iruka who was lying on the bed, a book in his hand, looked up as he heard what felt like the hundredth sigh coming up from Kyuubi. He dog-earred the page he was on and closed the book, placing it gently on the nightstand beside him. He sat up straighter and cleared his throat. "Anything bothering you, Kyuubi?"
Kyuubi paused, his pants on halfway. He sighed once again and pulled them on all the way before turning to face Iruka. "It's just, I wanted so bad for this prophecy to come true, you know, and to be about me."
Iruka nodded in understanding and focused his attention back to him, urging him to continue.
Kyuubi sighed again and began to untie his red hair from it's ponytail. "I can't help but to still feel disappointed though. It seems Itachi isn't in this for love at all. Just to further assure the success of his kingdom. I know I just met him, but I was hoping something could become of this."
Again, Iruka nodded his head. "I get it, but you gotta know, Kyuubi, it's all logical to them. These men were raised thinking marriage is just a strategic play. To get more wealth, land and power. You have to understand, the prophecy isn't a fairy tale romance but more of a reality on how the world works."
At the end of Iruka's explanation, Kyuubi felt the tears falling freely from his eyes. He knew Iruka's words rung true, but that didn't stop the hurt he still felt from them. A sob managed to escape from his mouth and he pursed his lips together to stop himself from crying.
Iruka gave him a sad smile. "Do you still want to go through with this?"
Kyuubi lightly cleared his throat and wiped at his eyes, getting rid of any evidence that he was crying. He gave the brunette a determined look and a quick nod. "Yes, of course, for the good of our people. There's no way I'm backing down. And besides," he gave Iruka a playful grin. "Itachi will learn to love me one day."
Naruto and Sasuke were currently in the Uchiha's bedroom. Sasuke closed the door, looking around his room. Just as Naruto begins to undress, Sasuke stopped his gaze on him.
"You can sleep in the cage." Sasuke manages to blurt out, feeling uncharastically nervous.
Naruto paused, narrowing his eyes at Sasuke. "What?"
Sasuke looks anywhere but at the blonde in front of him. "I said, you can sleep in the cage."
"Why?!" Naruto manages to squawk. "Why can't I get a bed?!"
"It's too late to have someone come in and set up a bed, and besides, there's not enough floor space for it. Since you'll be in your fox form, you'll have plenty of space in the cage to be comfortable. We can even add some pillows and blankets for comfort."
"Why can't I just sleep in your bed? It's big enough for both of us." Naruto suggested.
Sasuke's cheeks tinged a light pink. He remembered his father's words from the party, and he felt more nervous. "We can't share a bed!" He mentally cursed himself for being so quick to get loud. He cleared his throat and took in a quick, deep breath. "It implies something that our relationship just isn't."
Naruto rolled his eyes and quickly put his hand up before Sasuke could say more. "I get it. Spare me the Uchiha tantrum." A wave of annoyance ran through him and he quickly transformed into his fox form. He made his way to the cage, not bothering to place any pillows or blankets inside. He was too annoyed to think about comfort.
Sasuke took a couple of deep breaths, his nervousness beginning to dissipate. He headed to his closet where he changed into his night clothes. He left and went ot turn off the light when he noticed a small knitted blanket sitting on top of his desk's chair. He glanced at Naruto before grabbing the small blanket.
He made his way to the fox before draping it onto the small body. He very slightly smiles to himself before going and turning off the light. He climbed into his bed and pulled the covers over himself. "Goodnight, Naruto."
There was no response, the room only filled with silence. The raven let out a sigh and closed his eyes to fall asleep.
It seems like a few hours pass before Naruto's annoyance dies down. He began to feel his eyes droop close as he was about to fall asleep. A noise came from Sasuke, causing Naruto's eyes to spring open.
He raised his head slightly to get a better listen only to realize Sasuke was whining. He quickly got up and jumped onto the bed. He noticed the raven's face contorted into discomfort and Naruto realized, he was having a nightmare.
Naruto gently nudged him in the side, hoping to wake him up. Sasuke's whines seemed to grow louder and Naruto once again tried to nudge him awake but to no avail.
With a small growl, he nudged him one last time and yipped in shock as he was pulled into the raven's grip. He began to struggle, hoping to get out of the strong grip when he stopped.
Sasuke was now sleeping peacefully, his body still and face relaxed. Naruto felt a swell of happiness. He snuggled in closer and Sasuke's grip seemed to tighten. He guessed he could stay, if it meant not hearing him whine throughout the night.
It didn't take long for Naruto to fall fast asleep.
