Fire starter (Ana X Bucky)

Sorry I haven't posted! Been busy with my family. Please forgive me!

(Steve POV)

Once she was asleep I got up. I wanted to stay there all day but she needed me in other ways. I step out the room to see everyone waiting in the hall. I smiled happy to see they all cared so much.

"She's asleep. She's going to need help changing and cleaning off the dirt and blood. I'll go get her some food. When she feels better we should...we should talk about how to tell her what happened. She needs to know HYDRA is after her." Everyone looked around. I can tell they were worried about who will tell her.

"I already told her HYDRA was after her" Bucky called out with his arm around Natasha who looked like she was crying. I always thought they would be a cute couple if Natasha wasn't with Bruce. 

"How much did you tell her?" I sigh

"Just that the asshole was with HYDRA, we didn't have time for more details, you know with bullets flying around." He let go of Natasha putting his hands in his pant pockets. I nod.

"Alright, well..that conversation can wait. She's been crying since the whole thing happened so she's going to need food and water."

"I'll stay and wait for her to wake up, I can help her get changed" Wanda almost whispers.

"I ordered a bunch of food to make sure she eats something..anything" Tony added looking down.

"Everyone should go change and rest, today was rough" I feel so tired and weak from hearing her crying so much, but the team needs me to lead them, even now. I walk past them to the elevator taking it to the kitchen. Bucky follows me.

"He almost had her Buck..how did that happen?" I put my hands on the island leaning into them, I was upset. Of course I would be. We almost lost her to..to that thing.

"You want to blame me?" He leans against the counter near me looking at me dead in the eyes. I turn to look at him so he sees how serious I was.

"You said you had her"

"I told her to run to the damn Mausoleum, you wanted to send her indoors that was the best bet. I covered her while she ran, when I turned around she was gone." He was clenching his jaw, part of me knew he felt guilty.

"I just...I wish I was with her, I wish I was able to protect her better." I finally let go of my grip on the island, leaning against it and crossing my arms. I wasn't mad at Bucky, I was mad at myself. When it all went down, I was too far from her, I should have stayed closer. Then Bucky ran off with her in his arms, I was going to follow but I got blocked by five HYDRA agents. I barely got to cover myself with the shield when they started shooting.

"You did what you could Steve. It's why we are a team. One picks up the slack for the other." I nod at him. He was right, I chose both of us to protect her because there isn't anyone else I would trust to take care of her.

"I really care for her Buck. If I lost her..."

"You've known her for a few days Steve, rain it in man" we both chuckle, again he was right. I had the bad habit of falling for a girl within days of meeting her. There was just something different about Ana. She was so strong and curious. She was always happy even though she had so many horrible things happen. She was like a breath of fresh air in a stale room. "Come on man, let's make her a plate of food."

He pulls me out of my thoughts handing me a plate and a fork. We walk over to the food Tony got, arguing over what she would like to eat.

Thor walked in on our arguments. "Captain Rogers, Barnes. The battle was swift, I am glad I made it in time. How is Lady Anastasia?"
