Frostbite (Albedo x fem reader)

Chapter 1

 " Crap!" you yelled as you slip on ice

Why would Katheryne recommend me to this snowy nightmare?! Does she want me dead?!

You were on a commission to Dragonspine; you were told to refill supply boxes for future adventurers.

Who would even want to come here in the first place? This is absolute torture!

You shivered; hugging yourself in a vain attempt to conserve body heat. As much as you hated to admit it, this was slightly your fault.

Tired of doing easy commissions, like finding Margaret's lost cat, you begged Katheryne to give you a more difficult commission. You weren't blessed with a vision, but that wasn't going to stop you. You could fight, and if anything, not having a vision motivated you more. Nobody was going to look down on you. You would make the archons recognize you; vision or not.

Even though you knew she was only trying to keep you safe, you wanted to prove to Katheryne that you weren't weak. You pestered her for weeks to give you a more exciting task, but she always politely declined. 

That was, until this morning...

"Ad Astra Abyssoque! Looking for a new commission y/n?" she asked politely from behind the counter.

"Aww you know me so well!" you said with a smile. "And since you know me so well, you should also know what I'm about to ask next."

"Fine." she sighed

Your eyes widened in shock.

"WHAT?!"

"It's a commission in Dragonspine. No combat, just refilling supply stations for future adventurers." She replied.

"If you can handle that, then maybe I'll consider giving you more difficult commissions in the future."

Your eyes beamed. This was finally your chance to prove yourself! You literally had to stop yourself from hugging her.

"Thank you so much! I wont let you down!" You said excitedly.

"Don't mention it, I'm fully aware of your abilities, so I have no doubt that you can do this." she replied warmly.

"However.."

Of course there was a however. Theres always a catch.

"There is the issue of sheer cold. Y/n, please make sure to dress warmly, and stay near possible heat sources."

"Thats it?" you replied laughing.

She frowned slightly.

"Y/n, I'm serious it's extremely dangerous to go unprepared."

"Fine, I'll dress warmly. But theres no way a little chill is going to stop me."

Why am I so dumb?

Bringing yourself to the present, you looked down at your map, trying to determine which direction to go in. Quickly, though, you realized you were lost. Everything looked the same; snowy and icy. Your eyes darted around, trying not to panic, when you spotted a flame colored seelie. You decided to follow it, hoping you would at least see anything that looked remotely similar to things on your map.

Approaching it, you noticed it emitted a warmth, which was more than welcomed in your dire situation. 

'Whoever you were, please guide me to a safer place.' you whispered to it. 

As if on cue, the seelie began to move; it's gorgeous warm hues dancing against the stark white snow. It was beautiful...

But it was also moving too fast

'Oh Celestia, no.' you said, trying to keep up with the seelie.

But the snow began to pick up. The snowflakes changed from lightly crowning your lashes, to heavily landing; making it difficult to open your eyes. The winds slapped your skin harshly, causing pins and needles. You could barely move your fingers.

But worst of all, you had lost the seelie

Panicking now, you grabbed your map, this time, trying to return to the bottom of the mountain, but to no avail. You were completely lost.

You dropped to your knees.

"This is how I'm going to die, huh? Just another frozen corpse lost to this horrid mountain."

You laughed bitterly.

"Why couldn't I have listened to Katheryne? Why am I so stubborn?!"

Tears fell from your eyes, but you couldn't feel them. You couldn't feel anything.

Leaning back in the snow, you felt yourself lose consciousness.

'Sorry Katheryne, I guess I did let you down'

As your eyes closed, the last thing you heard was light footsteps approaching you...
