Madison's POV
Eric, the kids, and I are eating when Eric gets a phone call. Jr and Kayden look at each other. The others look at me.
"Mommy!" Everyone at the table says. "Love you." I smile then we all continue eating.
"Maddie, I gotta go. Apparently Charles decided to get drunk, get into a fight, and start a shootout."
"Dada." Sai and Kai say.
"Hey boys. I'll be back." They giggle at him.
"Be careful hubby!"
He leans into my my ear "Always."
He kisses me quickly and he's gone.
Jr and Kayden are already at school.
"Mommy," Amar says. "Food." I give all of them some strawberries and grapes.
After that, it's time to change diapers and get them ready to go to the parents. My phone rings.
"Hello?"
"Where my grandchildren at?" My mom asks.
"Right here, smiling like goofballs."
"Bring them. I'm off today and your dad is out with some buddies."
"Okay. Hey mom!"
"Hi sweetheart." She ends the call.
.........
I'm at work now and it's slow in here. "Hey girly." Makayla says.
"Hi." I chirp.
The ambulance rushes someone in.
"Welp, gotta go!" I rush to them.
"We have a Charles and he's in critical condition."
"Oh shit!" Makayla says. I look at her. I grab my clipboard and begin writing what the doctors say.
"Room 2022!" The doctor shouts. That's the room hell be in. Eric walks into the hospital with Ashley.
She's okay. Yay!
Makayla is helping someone when I turn to Eric again.
"Tonight at dinner?" I ask Ashley.
"Yes. Gives me a chance to see the little versions of you and Eric."
"Okay."
"Why is Makayla so happy?"
"Let her tell you."
"I heard that shit!" She exclaimed.
We laugh and she did in one of the chairs. I go to Charles room to see doctors working on him fast.
"Damn it! I hear. Eric sees me then steps out the room.
"Hope." Is all he says.
I swallow the lump in my throat.
The doctors come out the room with saddened expressions. "We're sorry."
"Run that by me again."I say. The doctors look at me with sorrow in their eyes.
Eric hugs me as I cry. Makayla brings me tissues.
"The only name we could find in his phone for family is Maddie." Eric looks at me and so does Makayla.
They hug me and I just lose it.
"As this is very hard for you Maddie, you can take some time off with pay and come back when you're ready."
Are you serious? He never let's us of like that.
"Yes. I'm serious. Take some time off. You've been working hard anyway."
"Yes sir."
"Eric, take her home and get her well rested." The doctor looks at Eric.
"Yes sir." Eric lifts me in his arms then kisses my cheek. "You're going to be okay wifey."
We get home and I shower alone. I want Eric in here with me, but he's starting on dinner early.

I just lie in bed after eating. Eric snuggle with you and I fall asleep.
Eric's POV
I know this is really hard on Madison. I don't know what to say, so I just snuggle with her. She curls into a ball, something she does when she's sad.
"Good night my sweetheart." I fall asleep as well after saying a quick prayer.
"Daddy what did you do to Mommy? She's not happy?" Jr, Amar, Hope, and Sai ask. I. Shake my head.
"Mommy lost a friend today." I say. All of them go to Madison and curl up in her arms. I smile.
