Once

                      Right now we were in a cafe, eating and thinking about what we could do. We were all sitting by the same table. I was drinking water and listening to them talking. They were thinking of theories that could explain why we are here, and who could have put us here.

Samuel thought putting his glass down ''Maybe we are in some transition or we are just sleeping and it's just a dream''

I shook my head ''No. That won't be right either. Dreams are not long. We are here for like 6 hours already and it's getting dark. And if you feel the pain you wake up. I hit my knee earlier I didn't wake up''

He nodded and went back to eating. 

We heard a sound coming from outside, we shared a look and went to check it. I walked outside and saw a bird and it fell from the sky, it was dead. I stepped forward and nudged it with my leg. It didn't even move an inch. 

I looked around and saw that another bird has fallen a couple of feet away. It was so weird and strange. I didn't know what to do.  I looked up at Carlo and he was already looking at me. I nodded and we both went back inside the cafe and everyone else followed. I went to the nearest laptop and I hacked into the security cameras. Yup, I was a hacker, I think, at least. 

And what I saw was horrible, in every place in the city birds fell down. Not a lot, but it was a horrible sight and an awful thing to see.

I said looking up at Carlo '' When we got here there were no signs of birds or any kind of life. Where did the birds come from''

He sighed running his hand through his hair ''I don't know. Maybe they went somewhere and just came back''

I nodded ''Maybe. But what can explain them all falling off the sky''

They started talking all at once. Something about some sickness or virus. From heat.

I was thinking about all of this and it just didn't make sense...Unless ''Guys?''

They all went silent and looked at me.

I stood up ''What if we are being watched? What if someone is doing this to us?''

They thought about it for a second and all shook their heads with ''Naah''

I looked outside the window and saw nothing, only the birds, dead birds. If we want to keep it from smelling the whole city, we have to clean this up.

''So guys... We have to clean up the bird bodies and bury them. So there's no smell''

They all nodded. ''Okay. Split up but don't go alone so... two go there'' I show the way to the right ''two go there''I showed straight ''Two go there '' I showed to the left.

They all nodded. Carlo came up at me ''Do you wanna go with me?''

I nodded ''Yeah sure'' I turned to the others ''Meet back in 2 hours'' They agreed and went with their partner.

I picked up my watch and both, me and Carlo, walked out of the building. We went to the left since no one went there. We walked looking for stuff to use as a big bag and something to pick the birds up with in case they are sick.

Carlo turned to me ''So... Alex? Do you remember anything before this?''

I looked up at him and started thinking about it. I never have thought about remembering actually. ''No... Do you?"

He nodded and now I was curious ''When I woke up I remember this women's face but she was a lot older than us. She was looking at me and talking to someone else. I don't remember what but... I don't know... It's all blurry''

I nodded ''Thank you for telling me''

I looked to the right and saw a hardware shop.

''Hey look... Maybe there's something that can help us'' I pointed to the store.

''Yeah. Let's check it out'' He said going there.

I followed him, he opened the door letting me inside first ''I'm not quite sure that either you are being a gentlemen or are you scared''

He chuckled but came inside shaking his head ''Maybe both. Maybe not. Who knows?"

I laughed a couple of seconds and then breathed in and stopped ''Okay. Let's check this out. If you need help yell for me''

He chuckled and nodded. I went to the back of the store and saw some shovels. I took one and put it down by the door for me to grab it later. I walked further and heard a buzzing sound, it came from the storage room. I was about to open it when I heard a grunt and a crash.

I looked around ''Carlo?''

He answered after a couple of seconds ''I'm here. Come, you need to see this''

I walked to him fastly. He had a long knife in his hand and he was looking at something on the ground.

I looked down and it was a robot with small legs and it was looking like a bird.

I gasped 'What is it?''

He was breathing heavy and looked down at me ''It was watching us''
