---Chapter 1---

New Start

Even if we're miles apart we'll be together. That's what she said. Ai. She's my best friend, my only friend in fact. She was crying softly as she spoke, words coming out in a jumbled mess. It was hard for others to decipher just what she was saying, but I could understand every syllable. You tend to when you've been with one person for so long. Her eyes were bloodshot red as more tears escaped and trailed down her now puffy cheeks. I tried hard not to join in but seeing Ai upset like this made my eyes sting badly and soon I was crying a river along with her. We embraced each other tightly, wishing I didn't have to leave. But I did.

As the train left the station Ai continued to weep, whilst my mum waved goodbye. I looked at her for the last remaining seconds before the speedy vehicle went through a dark tunnel, blocking my view. Her long brown hair that flowed past her shoulders, her warm hazel coloured irises, her light blue dress. I took in all of her, from top to bottom. After all, I wasn't going to see her anytime soon.

I wiped away my tears as the train came out of the pitch black tunnel, watching the trees whizz by in a light and dark green blur. I was actually leaving New Leaf behind. My childhood home. It was all I knew, how would I get around? New Leaf is such a small place, so small it's not even on a map, but the place I was going was much bigger. A bigger place means more people; more people who'll hate me.

I took a slight glance at the multiple bruises I'd received in the past month. They were clearly visible; you couldn't miss them even if you were practically blind. They didn't hurt as much as they did when I first got them; nonetheless it was still painful to think back on those horrid memories. The memories of the malice and detest towards me. I exhaled deeply and leaned against the glass window, physically and emotionally exhausted.

The journey was three hours long; three long, tedious hours of the same landscape zooming past at a dizzying pace. Once I eventually did arrive at the next station, I sat on the wooden bench on the platform, not knowing who had come to claim me. They knew me, but I wouldn't remember them. The only time I met them was when I was a few months old, you can't remember anything at that age unless you're a prodigy of some kind. I kept a look out though; I was given a brief description on their appearance. Even if it was just, a woman and a college student.

Many people passed me by, seriousness plastered on all of their faces. I waited for a few minutes before I felt someone gently tap my shoulder. Turning around, I was faced with a young woman, her hair was scarped back into a messy ponytail and her eyes were an unusual grey colour. Standing by her was a shorter boy with spiky hazel brown hair, with deep blue eyes to match his clothes. "Are you Villa?" She asked me. I nodded; this must be them. "Hey. You probably don't remember us do you?" I shook my head. "You don't talk much do you?" Normally I did, but I felt rather timid around them. I hadn't met them before so of course I was cautious, but they were family. "Want me to carry anything?" The boy next to her asked me smirking, but in a friendly way. He took my suitcase from my grasp as we all left the station.

We still had a little farther to go until I could finally relax. There was another half hour car journey to go yet. Even though I was extremely tired I couldn't sleep no matter how hard I tired. I gave up in the end and just looked out the window, watching leaves hang daintily from the branches of the trees. I had seen so many trees today . We were about ten minutes into the car ride when the woman, who still hadn't told me her name by then, tried to strike up a conversation with me.
