---Chapter 8---

Bonfire Night

Over the next couple of days, school had been a lot different to what I'd known. Ninten, Lucas and I became really good friends quickly. Ninten got set on fire at one point in Science. Well, his bandana did(he wasn't paying attention when pouring those chemicals; I tried to tell him) We spent all our breaks and lunches together and in all the classes we shared I would join in on the conversations, although a lot of the conversations consisted of what girls would normally gossip about. Ya know, the whole 'Have you seen Violet and Shadow.' and then someone would be like 'Yeah! They've been hanging out a lot recently. I never thought those two would become friends, they seem like polar opposites.' and then another person would be all 'OMG, I know right?'.

"Who are Violet and Shadow?" I asked with curiosity.

"Oh, they're these two girls in my Social Studies class. I sit with Violet and she's such a nice person! She wants to become an author, and she has the skills to do so. Shadow doesn't really open up to anyone. She'll help people out when their in a pickle, like if you're being mugged, and she'll do it not expecting a thanks. But other than that she has a sort of attitude and eerie atmosphere about her. Violet is also taking Psychology and she thinks that Shadow might have some deep childhood issues that have effected her in some way." Ninten rambled on to me, explaining. I just nodded my head in response.

"Wait, is Shadow her actual name?"

"No," Lucas interjected, picking up a sharpener and sharpening his HB pencil. "None of us know her actual name, so people just call her Shadow because her actions are similar to a shadow's; she is silent and sneaky, not drawing much attention." Interesting was the first word that sprung to mind.

"You're in my Social Studies anyway Villa, you'll get to meet Violet next week." Ninten said, and that was the end of that conversation.

On the Friday, Ninten invited me over to his house to celebrate Bonfire Night. He said TL would be there too and I accepted in a heartbeat. Don't judge me! I would do anything to get to spend more time with Link, even if it meant putting myself in uncomfortable positions such as social gatherings. So the next evening Mel, Rock and I went over to Ninten's house.

There were a lot of people there. Ninten had greeted me at the door as well as two young girls standing either side of him. They both came up to me and examined me, Ninten scolding the girls and telling them to stop making me feel uncomfortable.

"But big bro! That's what we do best!" One girl said, a smirk on her face as the other twin giggled uncontrollably. I just stood there awkwardly, trying hard not join in on the laughter; dang her laugh was contagious!

"I apologize Villa, these are my younger sisters Minnie," He pointed to the girl with auburn red hair. The smirk suited her well, she seemed the mischievous type. "And this is Mimmie." He pointed to the girl with beautiful dark lavender hair. She seemed more quiet and careful, not to mention less boisterous and cheeky as her sister was.

With that Ninten took a hold of my wrist and dragged me around the back where everyone else was, the twins didn't follow us. Apparently Mimmie found fireworks very pretty but her ears were very sensitive so the sound they made hurt her ears very badly, so instead she'd watch inside from the attic with Minnie and Aryll. "Minnie bought some earplugs for her and she said they were going to see if that helped at all, that way she could come outside with the rest of us."

We walked outside where Ninten's father was, setting up all the fireworks and getting everything ready. There was also a giant pile of wooden furniture at the side ready to set alight afterwards. Away from that there was a little table with different foods as well as a variety of hot and cold drinks on it; orange juice, hot chocolate, toffee apples and a lot more.
