--Chapter 5--

Bonding with Mel

We all jumped onto the train and sat down on one of the seats. The subway was surprisingly empty for this time, I thought more people would be using it since it was approaching rush hour. Luckily we got to stay on the one same train so we didn't have to worry about missing stops and such. We got to the edge of the city rapidly and we stood waiting for Mel to drive up. We didn't need to wait for long as she pulled up two minutes after we got back up to the streets.

Rock and Roll climbed into the back whilst I got in the front with Mel. "Hey kids. Where do you need to go Roll?" She asked, pulling back out onto the road.

"Just home please Miss Trainer. I need to get ready for babysitting later." When we stopped outside her house she said goodbye to everyone and gave me a quick hug. She shut the door and ran up to her house, not looking back. Mel pulled out of the drive and headed for our house. During the ride back I noticed the amount of decorations that had been put up as the day had passed.

"So Villa," The woman spoke up. "How was your first day at school?"

"It was good. I made friends with Lucas and Ninten, but you already knew that."

"Uh-huh...and what about Link?" Link. The mention of his name made me feel all tingly.

"Link too. He invited us all over for dinner at half 6."

"Oh that was nice of him!"

"yeah..." I sighed and rested my head in my hand, watching the lights flickering on and off as we drove by them at a hasty speed. My thoughts focused on the blonde boy from earlier. I couldn't believe myself! I had decided to be closed about my sexuality, then he comes along and turns me into a lovesick puppy. But I just couldn't help it. I didn't know much about him, but I knew he was attractive-UGH! Listen to myself! I sounded so sappy.

"Are you okay? You seem a little...distracted." Mel said, raising her eyebrow slightly. "Hm? Oh yeah. I was just thinking about..." I paused. Telling her I was thinking about Link would end in a squealing fest. I didn't care how appropriate it was(for it was Halloween), there was NO WAY on earth I was telling her the truth.

"Thinking about...?" Rock butted in. "Just, stuff. Nothing exciting." I could see Mel and Rock exchange glances in the rear view mirror, smiling a little at each other as if they knew something I didn't. I shook my head, thinking I had probably just imagined it, and went back to looking out of the window.

"So, what do you think of Link?" Mel asked me. I was a little confused by why she would even ask me such a thing, but nonetheless I answered.

"I think it was nice if him to invite us over. I don't think I can form much of an opinion when I've talked to him twice for about 30 seconds Mel." Oh I had an opinion. Based off of the things Lucas told me about him during English and the small amounts of time Link and I had chatted. I already thought he was amazing; he could play many instruments, he always helped people, he took so much responsibility over his sister. Those were the only things Lucas told me but off that alone I gathered he was a very talented and thoughtful kind of guy.

"Aw Mel, it was so funny earlier though," Rock stated, a cheesy grin emerging. Oh god, I knew where this was headed. "Link came up to Villa and asked him over, and every time Villa spoke his voice cracked and went really high pitched. Oh my gosh it was the funniest thing." I slouched in my seat and tried to hide my face. "It wasn't that funny Rock! It was embarrassing. Especially with you peeing yourself behind Link." Rock had got into another laughing fit, similar to the one I was just describing. Mel giggled and shook her head. "Oh dear. Don't worry Villa, it's all part of growing up. You have no control over when your voice starts to break." I knew she was trying to comfort me, but it was a little hard with the brunette laughing his head off in the back seat of the car.
