JJ watched the sun spewed from the horizon while Kiara slept silently on his shoulder. They both had planned to watch the sunrise together but other sacrifices were made. Now he's doing it alone, slightly dazed from the blunt they had smoked prior.

The memories of the past four hours reminisced through his mind as he looked over at the brunette. He would be lying to himself if he thought of her only as his best friend. Of course she is and always was but he's never stopped having feelings for her since the first time they met. It was little skips at first, but there's this particular moment that just settled everything he was already thinking about.

The summer of 2015.

' The boys had just come from John B's house where they usually spend their days. They're making their way down the sand once they've made it to the beach. It was hot and humid, but the waves were a beauty. JJ's love for surfing holds no end no matter what the weather looks like.

"Hey, is that Kiara?" Pope wondered aloud, briefly pointing to the left.

They turned their heads seeing the small brunette holding her light yellow board walking toward the water. JJ was perplexed as to why she was there. He's seen Kiara at the beach before, but only laying on her towel with her sunglasses covering her eyes. Sunbathing, she called it.

Another time it was eating ice cream from their local ice cream truck that stopped by every blue moon. He was the only one who didn't have enough money since his father hardly gave him any. Kiara insisted she buy for him without taking no for an answer.

She was always like that. Helping them out when they needed, or didn't even like to at times. Especially JJ.

"Should we be worried?" John B asked, looking between them.

"I mean does she even know what she's doing?"

Kiara isn't necessarily a girly girl a hundred percent but since she's the only girl they hang out with, they don't know if this is her style.

"You can't just say things like that JB, it's misogynistic." Pope said.

He furrowed his brows, "What?"

"Girl hating."

It clicked, "Ohhh, no I mean...what if she gets hurt, y'know?"

"She won't get hurt." JJ interrupted, not taking his eyes off her.

They looked at him, "How do you know?" Pope asked.

"Just trust me."

JJ couldn't put his finger on it but something in him knew she was good. He was almost ninety-seven percent sure that she wasn't going to fail. Kie's a perfectionist, and whatever hobby whether it was small or big, she was going to do it and do it right.

They watched her paddling out to a great distance for their age. Her face laced concentration and determination as she stood on her feet still keeping low. She retained her balance holding out her hands and did little to no wobbling. This must not be her first rodeo.

Before any of them could think twice about it, she was up and off into the moving bodies which were the waves. She rode with confidence and assurance as it swept her clean through. She had control and she knew exactly what she was doing. It looked like god himself just planted her delicately in his waters and told her to make fun of what she had.

The sun scorched their bodies almost to a crip with their minds hypnotized by the white swan herself. Their lips painted themselves with surprised smiles and their bodies covered themselves with goosebumps. They awed at her mesmeric beauty.

He awed the most. With heart eyes to finish his fixation.'
