Their boards were tucked away under their arms. They casually strolled down the sand. It was soft and warm as it pillowed their feet. The sky was blush pink with hints of deep blue peppering it's way all over. Not many civilians were in their space. It was perfect.
Almost perfect.
"I'm really happy you agreed." Kiara spoke once they reached a decent spot for their things.
"You didn't give me much of a choice." He said, setting down his board.
"What are you talking about, I said you could go back to sleep."
"Really? Because saying that JB is a better surfer than me is a funny way of showing it."
She couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, "Okay, that was kind of low but you're here, aren't you?"
"I guess." He mumbled.
JJ was the first to pull his shirt over his head showing off his fairly defined six pack. Kiara tried her best to not have her eyes drift his way so she turned the opposite direction. She then started with her shorts, unbuttoning them just letting them slide down her legs before putting them to the side. She took off her tank showing off her black bikini top and bottoms. Now it was his turn as he subconsciously glanced at her.
It would be a lie to say that JJ has never done this before. He has. Plenty of moments ago. He doesn't do it to be creepy or to make her feel uncomfortable, he does it out of admiration. Just taking in all of her natural beauty that she tries so hard to hide. Not only her body but her face. He doesn't get it. How can someone so effortlessly gorgeous be ashamed of something she believes is a curse?
JJ has always told Kiara she is beautiful. Maybe it was replaced with smoking hot but he has always said it. She always thought it was a joke just to flirt with her but it wasn't. It was never a joke to him.
He stopped himself before she started to notice. He picked up his board tucking back under his arm.
"You ready?"
She did the same, moving a couple of pieces of hair out of her way. "Ready to beat your ass, then yes."
"You wish."
They started down to the shore bickering like two competitive children as they are. JJ and Kiara went into the water. It was cold as the sand gradually became large pebbles. Once it was at their thighs, they plopped their boards down and hopped right on top. Kiara was the first to paddle out. JJ didn't take long to follow behind.
The waves weren't near them yet so it was just a moment of comfortable silence. The seagulls in one ear and the clashing between the rocks and the ocean in the other. The sun met the horizon as the water mirrored it's reflection. Kiara looked over at the blonde. He didn't see right away but eventually caught her glance. The corner of his lips turned up as he gave her a small nod. She did the same turning back.
Kiara knew. She knew that this was her last surf. She knew that this was the last view she'd ever get to see. But she also knew that she was going to be okay.
He knew that she was going to be okay.
