[6:00 pm]
Hiroki knew he should have left the house by now, to be honest. He didn't want to leave his little sister alone in the sad and empty house, so he waited till someone else could arrive. Sure, he understood the need of being on time for meetings, especially crucial ones like these, but Hideyo's comfort was always first on his list.
Hideyo's eyes narrowed with a familiar look of disapproval as she glanced at her brother.
He could tell what she was about to say without even looking up from his phone.
"Yes, I'm going to the meeting in this." Hiroki was irritated.
"Everyone else is going to be wearing their uniforms," the younger sibling said with a pout on her lips.
"And?" Hiroki shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
It was useless. Hiroki was adamant about wearing the same clothes he'd been wearing since this morning, although it was now colder outside.
Hideyo rolled her eyes.
"He's just down the block," Hiroki remarked as he shut his phone and stood up from the tatami mats.
"Have you been texting him?" Hideyo asked after a few seconds of exaggerated blinking.
"How else would I know that?" Hiroki remarked plainly as he slid the living room door open.
The silver-haired girl rose from the floor and began following her brother out of the room, quickening her pace to match his lengthy strides.
"What time is it?" Hideyo asked as she turned a corner of their house.
"6:03."
"If you have time, grab something to eat."
Before the sound of pleasant music sounded throughout the house, Hiroki gave a quiet nod to Hideyo, making a mental note to do so.
"Can you open it?" as he slipped on his shoes, Hiroki asked.
Hideyo answered, "No," but did what she was told.
The peach-haired boy replied with a quiet, "Thank you."
As he gazed fondly at the girl who had just opened the door, a sweet smile formed on the boy's face.
"Hi, love."
"Hello!"
Hiroki rolled his eyes at the small interaction.
"Gross."
As he finished tying his shoe, Hiroki ignored Hideyo's tiny slap on the back.
"Hey, Hiroki."
"Hi, Takashi."
Mitsuya was now in front of Hiroki. Short. When he saw him, that was always the first thing that came to mind, but he had to remind himself that he was also three years older than the kid. Hiroki turned to face Hideyo, who was staring him down as if she knew exactly what he was thinking. He ruffled her hair and offered her a lazy smile.
"You know the rules."
As he walked out the door, Hiroki tucked his hands into the pockets of his shorts. The cold air cut his legs, but his beanie and sweater kept him warm enough to make him forget about the weather.
"I'm sorry for dragging you out here."
Mitsuya ignored Hideyo's apology and closed the door shut before Hideyo could do it.
"I don't mind it, we practically live together."
Hideyo smiled softly at his response.
"So, have you eaten yet?"
