Ohm and Fluke found an anxious Kao waiting for them at the Police Station."Thank God you're finally here! Why did you take so long? Are you okay? How did he treat you? Do you need anything else?", were only some of the several questions made by the Police Chief when the mundane/demon duo reached his office that afternoon. Contrary to what one might think, none of them were directed at Ohm, the mundane living in such a delicate situation, but at Fluke, the demon who put him in such danger. Kao was checking the creature like he was made of glass and could possibly find a crack or another problem like that. In turn, the detective was slowly getting used to the biased attention, but not without whining about it.
"Hey! I'm right beside you!", Ohm muttered still upset with the lack of concern about him. He was the one living with a freaking demon, if anyone was taking this into account!
"And that's exactly what I am afraid of, Ohm! By the way, are you okay? Did he make a move on you?", Kao suddenly released the smaller male and came to him.
"What? What do you mean?", Ohm was cornered next to the wall and getting increasingly anxious with Kao's weird questions.
"Hmmm… It seems that he didn't… yet. This is good because we don't have the time to deal with horny bunnies around the city. We have a mysterious case to discuss."
"What do you mean by that?", Fluke suddenly changed his soft expressions and was frowning at Kao.
"I'm gonna explain everything to you, please take a seat, guys!", he said and the duo obeyed instantly.
The Police Chief then proceeded to explain to them how a thief was making some fuss in the east side of the town. The suspect usually stole purses, but didn't take the money. Some of the victims reported that he asked them about food and if after searching for it he didn't find any, he returned the belongings to its owners.
"Oh, so it's not that bad!", Ohm was relieved to know that their first demon was gonna be an easy one to deal with.
"Wait a little, mundane. It's never that easy!", Fluke had a smirk on his face while leaning on his chair and crossing his legs in a sensual movement that didn't pass unnoticed by the detective.
"Exactly. Recently he has been murdering people when they don't have food to give to him.", Kao finished his report.
"What?!"
"I told you so!", Fluke said, folding his arms in front of his chest. The smaller's growing smirk made Ohm question how someone could be so cold talking about that kind of thing. But, not the first time that day, he reminded himself that his partner was indeed a demon.
"Does this ring a bell, Fluke? I was hoping you could clear things up for us.", Kao focused his whole attention to the demon, making Ohm get curious about it too. He was still unsure about this whole "underworld" thing and it was hard to believe demons were among them.
"Actually, yes.", Fluke sighed and folded his arms in front of his chest. "It looks like Belphegor, the guy you were introduced to yesterday — he said looking at Ohm —, is getting a bit aroused.", he stared at the window view, but his eyes were unfocused, like he could see a different landscape right there.
"What do you mean?", Ohm dropped without even realizing he had opened his own mouth.
"This demon is famous because of its hunger. This means that if he doesn't get enough energy from his food, he will get more and more anxious. But in demon language, this actually means he'll become more violent and will hurt mundanes around him without thinking twice.", he explained simply.
