"Ohm! You need to wake up! I'm gonna get late to work!", Fluke was already fully dressed in his uniform and shaking the detective's shoulder to wake him up.
After some effort, the mundane got up from bed and went through his daily routine before work. While brushing his teeth, Ohm couldn't avoid thinking it was kinda fun to have some company at home like that and really surprising to see how excited Fluke was about his mundane job.
Ohm prepared them a good breakfast (twice, because Fluke was as hungry as always) and soon they parted to work. Getting to the school, the demon was instantly drowned in the little circle of kids, but he managed to hear the detective bidding goodbye.
"I'll be here at lunch time to pick you up! Take care!"
However, none of them expected to get to see each other sooner than planned. After getting into the Police Station Kao gave Ohm a report about a suspect really similar to the demon they were looking for. Without thinking twice, the detective grabbed his keys and went to the last place the witness said they saw him.
The interview with the person who saw the suspect was a bit slow because they kept commenting about silly details unimportant to the investigation, but Ohm couldn't convince them to focus on the main topic. Lucky him, destiny decided to help them.
"Hey, detective! That was the man who stole my purse!", the witness said pointing to a guy crossing the street.
"Are you sure?", Ohm shifted his look from the suspect to the witness, in doubt about running after the first or interrogating the latter a bit more to be sure.
"Yeah!", they nodded.
"Hey you! Stop right there, sir! I'm a detective from de Bangkok Police Department and need to talk to you!", Ohm said, pointing to the man who looked briefly at him and started to run faster. It was really the weird guy who tried to stab Ohm with a sword.
In an all too familiar déjà vu, Ohm saw himself running after the demon just like he did a couple of days ago. Which he didn't notice was the place the chasing had led him to.
"What the hell?", Fluke asked when a huge man bumped into him, almost making him fall on the ground after the impact.
"I'm so sorry, Sir! I have to- Oh, it's you!", Ohm said lookingaway from Fluke and trying to find any trace of where the suspect could be at that moment but without any luck. "And now I've lost him again!", he snapped his fingers like his hands felt frustrated after almost catching the bad guy.
Fluke was staring at him with those big doe eyes and the detective forgot his moody temper for a second.
"Oh, hey! Do you wanna have lunch now?", he invited the other.
"Sure! I'm done here anyway…", Fluke shrugged, but they were interrupted by a third part.
"Hey, Fluke! Do you wanna have lunch?", an unknown man also wearing the Bangkok Police uniform asked the smaller male while approaching the place he was talking to Ohm and without caring about greeting the detective.
"Ah, sorry Phi Chaittee! But my friend over here came to pick me up. Can we make it tomorrow?", Fluke smiled so wide Ohm questioned if the demon had more teeth than mundanes. It was a big bright smile and a sincere tone, things he wasn't used to seeing the little man doing for no reason. Not that they knew each other for too long anyway.
"By the way… Did he just call me 'friend'?!", Ohm thought.
"Oh, okay then, Fluke! Have a nice lunch!", the officer disappeared with a wink and Ohm felt the urge to do the same, walking towards the place he had parked his car, the demon right behind his ankles.
